Bead Soup's Done!
Suhweet!! You made it!! What a trip I bet you are taking, traversing through all of the 200+ blogs participating in this most recent Bead Soup Party! I wasn't sure when you'd stop in, so I hope you haven't petered out from all the soup happiness happening today.
Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. The goal -- to push ourselves creatively by using beads we may never have used before, and to meet beaders from around the world.
Thank you Lori for putting on some a cool party- you can read more about past Bead Soup Parties here!
My partner this time around is the lovely and talented Terri of Terri's Blooming Ideas. Check out Terri's post to find out what kind of bead soup I sent her. Terri sent me a rustic, and earthy grouping of wood, resin, silver spacers, unakite, dark green and black stone squares, a Sun/Moon pendant and toggle clasp.
To beef my necklace up a bit, I layered the sun/moon pendant on top of a coral etched shell pendant from Lilly Pilly. To add more color, I included some coral colored Swarovski pearls that match the shell pendant perfectly.
I decided to do a double-stranded necklace in a nice random pattern. At first I wasn't sure if I would include the large wood beads- she sent along 4 of these. But I think they work out okay with the large size of the pendant.
Between the larger beads, I used some octagon shaped seed beads in a matte eggplant color with some green iridescence. I am really happy with the overall design, and color palette! I think it has a nice boho feel to it, and can see it being worn in the summer with a cute dark brown tank dress and sandals.
Thank you so much for stopping in to see my final project!
Good News!! I have decided to offer this necklace as a giveaway- Please leave a comment on this post, and I will draw a Random final winner for this piece on Wednesday March 2nd. Don't just leave any comment- Tell me what you like best about the Bead Soup Blog Hop!

But wait~!
Are you up for ANOTHER giveaway?? Head over to A Jewelry Accord, where I have joined up with my co-Author to give away a fantastic motherlode of Silk ribbon- and Dupioni Ribbon- AND some pendants!! Quick! Go there first before you continue on with the hop- it'll only take a minute, I promise- you won't be sorry!

What is a Bead Soup Blog Party?
Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following:
~ A focal
~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw)
~ Some coordinating spacers or beads
Thank you Lori for putting on some a cool party- you can read more about past Bead Soup Parties here!
My partner this time around is the lovely and talented Terri of Terri's Blooming Ideas. Check out Terri's post to find out what kind of bead soup I sent her. Great work, L! Your partner knows your penchant for wooden beads. Beautiful focal.
ReplyDeleteThis is an wonderful creation! I love the sun/moon pendant and it was a wise choice to add the larger wooden beads and double strand it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful idea to add size and colour to the sun and moon pendant by layering it with the amazing shell pendant!!!
ReplyDeletePerfect!
Love how you put it all together! Great job!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! - That one is going to be really fun to wear. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeletelove the colors and textures!
ReplyDeleteYay, today's the day, and you're my first stop. I've got the day to myself so I plan to spend it checking out all the bead soup creations. I love your bold piece with all its different elements. It reminds me of some ancient civilization.
ReplyDeleteI love the bead soup blog hop because I get loads of inspiration, and its a great way to meet other artists.
Alice
That is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love that rusty orange/teal green combination with the wood!
Just gorgeous!
It's a great piece - love how the colors work together!
ReplyDeleteThe wooden beads give a good accent on the necklace! You made a very lovely piece!
ReplyDeleteOh, L! Your piece turned out great! I love the orange, earthy colors and the wood...and those barrel-shaped beaded beads? Those are cool!
ReplyDeleteI love participating in the bead soup blog party to meet new beaders and jewelry enthusiasts!
I love at textures and colors you combined in this piece. Great choice to include the large wooden beads - they give the eye a rest while moving around the necklace and really let the other beads shine.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the bead soup blog hop is getting a glimpse of the creation process. I really enjoy viewing the blogs which include pics of the soup send and the final creation. I remember the sun/moon pendant from the soup pic and wondered how you would use it. It was fun seeing how you layered it with another piece. Bravo! And thanks for the giveaway.
What I love about the Bead Soup Blog Hop is hearing (and seeing) the insight into the process each participant goes through...the initial excitement over the goodies they receive from their Soup partner and how they go about putting them together. It really is inspiring and encourages all of us to stretch our creativity by using items we normally wouldn't or to try new techniques.
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with yours -- especially the color combination!
I agree, this colour palette is yummy. Those wood beads work really well in this design, especially with the way you layered the pendant. Nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you worked with these lovely beads. The colors are super and using a double strand is great. Wonderful piece .
ReplyDeleteAs a participant for the first time I am astonished by all the talented designers in this hop.....so many beadlovers out there
ReplyDeleteI want to thank You Lorelei for leading me into using more art beads in my work !!!!
This necklace You made is lovely I especially love the layered pendant idea..... makes the moon shine!
A lovely, earthy necklace. I really like the mix of materials, shapes and sizes in it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lori, for making this happen!
Love the double pendants... and the best thing about bead soup was my awesome partner and getting to check out the myriad of design styles across the board!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hopping!
Great Necklace.
ReplyDeleteI also like how you layered the moon focal, this made it for me.
The best thing about this hop is learning about different artists you didn't know about before!
Thanks!
Cilla
Very beautiful! I like the wooden beads with the focal. The colors are great. Makes me want to touch it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful results. As everyone says the layering was a great decision. the double strands helps to give balance to the chunky wooden beads. This is my first time hopping thru a bead soup. It's party time!
ReplyDeleteLorelei, I love what you did with the beads you received.
ReplyDeleteAs for the whole Bead Blog, what I like best is the inspiration, inspiration, inspiration!!! With this many people contributing there is every kind of work to see. You just can't visit all of these blogs without a very strong desire to put something together yourself. How inspiring to see how creative everyone was with elements that did not always seem as though they could possibly be used together.
ooops I left the message before reading about the giveaway. I love the Blog Soup hopping because the idea is great, you get to know about other artists you didn't know, you see jewelry trends,it pushes creative juices and gets people "together".

ReplyDeleteWhat do I like best about the bead soup party? I love seeing everyone else's work. It really inspires me.
I love to look at hand-crafted jewelery, so the blog hop is 0ne big virtual gallery. Some of the pieces may not be to my taste but it givesd me a peek into someone else's creative process - in this case over 200 people - amazing!
ReplyDeleteYummy Lor!
ReplyDeleteI love the push that it gives my own creativity and its fun getting to know your Bead Soup partner little bit. But the best part is right now!--Getting to see what everyone made and reading about their creative process.

Hey Lorelei, I love what you have done -- you are the master (mistress?) bold design.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I love most about blog hops, and beady challenges in particular, is the huge array of different approaches the artists take to answering the challenge of working with someone else's bead choices.
Now, I'm off to check out the rest of this gi-normous blog hop.

ReplyDeleteNOW my favorite part about BSP is today, the reveal!. I love the before and after shots of the beads and am amazed at what talented artists we all are! Lori sure knows how to throw a party!
Your orange piece behind the sun moom pendant is perfect. It framed the pendant and made it sing. I don't think I would have liked the two strands without those fabulous and big wood beads. But I wouldn't have known they were missing if you hadn't added them would I. That is the magic. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I read about the BSP and it's GREAT! Looking at all the amazing talent is a wonderful way to spend a snow day... Your necklace is O-R-A-N-G-E my favorite. Would love to get in on the next one.

I love seeing what everyone does and love participating in something with other jewelry designers. It's a happy day - well days since there are 200+
The orange and the turquoise speak Southwestern to me, and I like the layering -- that's a great way to not only reduce stash (something I've been trying to do!) but create texture and coolness.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the wood pieces she sent, I knew those were "Lorelei". And I've said this on several blogs -- I wish I could do the multi-strand look but I have so much FAIL there.
Cool piece!
I love the color combo and am a fan of the double strand. Really nice piece, very summery.
ReplyDeleteVery cool piece Lorelei,

Love the layered focal, Lorelei. You always have interesting things in your stash! And the color palette is rich and warm... like walking on a beach in the Carribbean. (Can you tell I am sick of the snow?!).
ReplyDeleteI am still hopping and may be until Easter! But what I love most is the challenge. You know never know what you will unwrap and it is always unexpected and that sort of challenge pushes me to try something new.
Enjoy the day!
Erin
I finally made it back here! (I came by too early reveal day, I think.) It was worth the wait, though. :D What a fun, fun design! I love the soup your partner sent you; these beads are so summery. Also, I feel like they were a great match for you because they seem very hispanic and you just visited Spain, so maybe there was a little influence there? ;) Well anyway, it turned out gorgeous. Wonderful work, as always!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I have to choose one favorite thing about the bead soup blog hop? I really like the fact that so many people have connected because of this event. I also really love that there are so many different techniques and styles and skill levels involved this time around; I've been inspired just looking at everyone else's work and it's such a great learning experience. My favorite of favorites has to be all the positive energy, though. :D Usually this time of year is so bleak and depressing; I think this couldn't have come at a better time. So much smiling and great energy! It's really fantastic. :D
I love the combination of the coral with the Sun/Moon pendant. It really sets the stage for the whole shebang `;~)
