Ghosts and Goblins

Joe and I are HUGE fans of all the ghost hunter shows on TV these days. I love them all. Don't have a favorite. If it's about ghosts, I'm watching it. And I'm the biggest wuss there is, but for some reason the life after death phenomena is intriguing to me. We love to watch Paranormal State, which is usually kind of hokey but sometimes really creepy. They tend to seek out negative energies in haunted locations which is quite dangerous. I also like to watch Ghost Hunters which chronicles the investigations of TAPS - The Atlantic Paranormal Society out of Rhode Island. They never seem to find anything really good, but are really talented at working the watcher up right before a commercial break. lol!
Last night Joe and I attended a presentation at the local public library of the Ghost Seekers of Central New York. A team of 5 or 6 men and women that go to haunted locations to investigate ghostly activity. They showed a powerpoint presentation of an investigation that they did at the Erie Canal Village which is right outside of Rome. When we lived in Rome, we never did go there. But now I totally want to, knowing that it's possibly quite haunted! They showed lots of pictures of orbs, and a few EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena). The pictures of orbs were interesting, especially because last week, I was down in storage at the museum, photographing furniture for this project I was working on. It's all quite old in age, but there was one settee in particular that when I photographed it, many many orbs showed up in the picture. That was the only picture that contained the orbs. I suppose they could have been dust particles. But I was pretty freaked out all the same.
It was a fun presentation and appropriate for this time of year. Now at least I know Who TO Call... GHOST BUSTERS of CNY!

  1. I love Ghost Hunters and have all of the seasons on DVD. I am not really bowled over by their "proof," but I really am intrigued by the concept, and I love the cast. Watching them is more fun than looking for ghosts!

  2. When I was a kid we had a front door ghost my step dad called him "George". George liked to open the front door.... even when it was dead bolted!

  3. I love Ghost Hunters, Wednesday is my night for the TV. We lived in a house that I KNEW was haunted. It was used during the Civil War as a
hospital/rehab and has the city cemetary right across the street. Never "saw" anything, but heard lots of footsteps and door handles moving. Mom said we had overactive imaginations...

My in-laws live near Lake Huron, MI. There are 2 lighthouses on the lake. The old one has been discontinued as a guiding light for ships. But...there are claims that people can still see it glowing and blinking at night.
We went out on the pier one night to investigate and it was glowing!

  5. A fleeting glimpse of the paranormal world, the world beyond appears, to be uncertain. Opening our minds to the existence of ghosts is always rewarding. If ghosts are the personalities and temperaments of people who once lived, and decided not to cross over to the other side, at the moment of their death, wouldn’t then these spirits reflect their former life.

  6. Oh, this is totally up my alley. I have a big obsession with ghosts too. I'll be moving into a new house next month and I'm secretly hoping that it's haunted LOL I've watched pretty much every ghost movie out there. If you want to see a really good ghost movie rent "The Orphanage"...it's fantastic!

  7. Hey Bijoux,
Just watched the trailer to that movie. Looks SPOOKY!! Is it subtitled? No one speaks in the trailer other than a woman and a child saying some name like Timon or something like that. But they sound french or something so I was curious. looks like a good one. I'll look for it.

  8. Lorelei - yes, I believe it is a Spanish movie with English subtitles. Don't let that discourage you from watching it though. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for reading subtitles during a movie but this one was worth it. Did you watch a clip of it on YouTube?

  9. Nope I watched the preview on the "Official" movie's website.
It was a nice website too. Equally spooky as the movie looks.
