Button Mania!

I have been so inspired by buttons in jewelry lately. I just can't get enough! It's that perfect element of adding Old to something New- and the outcome is always so fun and unique! I am listing 4 new pieces using buttons, in my shop this morning. I need to try to get my hands on some more one-of-a-kind decorative buttons like the ones I used in the bracelets. The Burgundy button came from an etsy shop : ForsytheCompanyStore and the floral metal button, I think came from someone that participated in the swap. I wish I knew who! Leave a comment if you gave me this button! So if any of your see any suppliers that have cute etched shell, mother-of-pearl, or metal buttons that you think I might like, please let me know!

  1. LORELEI, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU JUST POSTED YOUR BEAUTIFUL NEW PCS WITH THE BUTTONS! I JUST FINISHED A NECKLACE WITH A BUTTON IN IT LAST NIGHT, THAT'S THE FIRST BUTTON I'VE EVER USED IN MY JEWELRY! I'LL POST A PHOTO OVER THE WEEKEND. I WAS INSPIRED BY RUTH RAE'S BLOG WHICH FEATURES A FREE PROJECT ON A BUTTON BRACELET.
ONCE AGAIN, GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!

All of our great minds are thinking alike! Do I have buttons?? I collect buttonboxes-- they call out to me from fleamarkets and yard sales! The etched shell ones are all antiques--but eBay has lots of them for sale. I have a couple of articles on interesting connections for buttons, let me know if you want a copy.

  12. What a unique and exquisite way to showcase buttons in earrings. I love buttons, but most designs that I've seen tend towards the "cutesy" which isn't my style. Fabulous work. I have a pair of Celtic buttons from Creative Impressions in Clay that I haven't know what to do with. I'm feeling inspired now:)

  13. Lorelei - I know it's always best if you can find true vintage, but I've found some really pretty etched shell buttons at Joann's. It's a brand called LaMode and it says Vintage Circa 1860-1900.
