Road Trip
I'm scootin' off to SUNY Oswego today to see my little sister at college. Her 19th birthday is next weekend but since she has a pretty busy schedule that weekend, I decided to go up and celebrate a week early! We'll probably hang out, maybe do a little shopping, go out to lunch, do some sort of girly thing. Too bad there aren't any bead shops in Oswego, that'd be perfect.
I did make her a super special something, jewelry related. But didn't take any photos of it before I boxed it up with a bow.
I don't have much to show you today. Most of what I did yesterday, sold quickly from the shop. The pretty Flower Discus earrings are still sitting in the shop though. Hmmm. Isn't that always the way? You create something that you think is really super great, and then come to find out, not everyone else thinks it's super great?
Well I'll give you a sneak peak of something instead. Here is a little something I like to call The Convertible. I created this piece yesterday and it won't be going into the shop just yet. Some publication will be gettin' their hands on this baby, if I'm lucky. It's a necklace. NO, it's a BRACELET!! But the coolest part of this piece is the beads. Christine Damm of StoriesTheyTell created these polymer clay beads. She sent me several sets last week. They are really super cool and unique and the colors are perfect for Fall which is what publications are looking for these days. Thanks Christine, for making my designs so easy! These beads, called Bumble Beads resemble little stripy dotty bumble bees. I love the color palette. They have some metallic highlights- in a beautiful copper color that pairs perfectly with the copper color Polester Chain.

The Convertible is really, really cool! Love the colors too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lorelei, for mentioning my beads and Etsy site. I love how you've used my beads--hey! that's what I make 'em for! Your designs are fabulous and unique and I'm honored that you chose my little Bumbles. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think your earrings have just not found their owner yet, I am sure they will, they are beautiful
ReplyDeleteLove the necklace and how versatile it is! And if somebody doesn't snatch up those earrings soon, they will be coming to my house. :-)
ReplyDeleteLorelei, my friend, keep an eye on the sky while you travel - there are rumours of snow - yes - snow in March. Hope it doesn't get all the way to you! Travel safely, beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteLove the convertible necklace - what a great idea and I love the warm rich colors - you are amazing! I am very intrigued by that polyester chain. You are inspiring me to try some stringing again - after I finish my freeform necklace maybe.
ReplyDeleteHi Jean!
ReplyDeleteOh you've gotta try out the polyester chain. It's so funky and really lightweight. They have a lot of different colors available too.
I'm so thrilled to know you are inspired by my work!!
Your stuff is getting edgier and so cool! But it was cool before too!
ReplyDeleteI just love The Convertible - incredible Lori!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the convertible! Awesome work...as usual!
