High Tech Photography station

I was asked yesterday in a convo how I take my photos and what kind of light source I use. I thought it would be fun to show my set up. Here it is. In all it's high tech glory.

Marley, my cat, lies here on a regular basis. This little fuzzy covered cat perch is where I take all of my jewelry photographs, with the nice natural light source of the picture window.

This is the real deal, people. No kiddin' around.

  1. that's funny lorelei - i've tried so many things - light boxes, fancy lamps, etc. - and i find the window sill (where my kitty happens to frequent) on a clear, bright day to be the way to go...

  2. Thanks for sharing that! I love the natural light sources that you and others use...makes me think I need to go get a cat...or a cat perch! Since I create primarily into the wee hours, there is not that option...I have a photocube setup and some high powered lights. But I wish for daylight hours and this would be another reason why! Thanks for sharing your *secrets*. Enjoy the day!

  3. That's great - SO much better than me standing there holding the photo lights outside the photo cube while Thomas takes pictures :o) I need to get my camera back up and running so I can work on getting my own photos - he is SUCH a perfectionist that it takes FOREVER to get pictures of anything I make...He does a great job, but I get SO impatient sometimes!

  6. So neat and clean! I'd hate to take a picture of my studio...it would make Martha Stewart totally envious...LOL!

  7. How does the cat feel about this set up? It is always interesting to see how people set up photos. And your photos are great!

  10. I have a similar set up in my kitchen, and the cat thinks it is his space always trying to get into my pictures.
