Art Bead Scene: Monet: Water Lillies

When I saw that this month's theme for the Art Bead Scene challenge was Monet's Water Lillies, I was thrilled! And then got really lucky when I had recently heard about lampwork glass artist, Lori Greenberg. Lori makes an entire line of glass beads in this same color theme! I purchased a few and Lori sent me this large focal as an extra! Can you believe how perfect these are for this theme!? The beads look exactly like the painting!

Then I read the Art Bead Scene's Findings Worth Finding, and found out about Lea Anne Hartman - you can buy some of her designs here. I bought the frog and lily pad toggle immediately after I saw it on ABS.

So my necklace is quite a literal adaptation of the painting- even down to the bubbles- Pewter link from Mamacita Beadworks. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, although I'm not sure about the double strands at the front of the necklace. I added in a little dragonfly for a touch of whimsy.

I have some other beads coming my way so this won't be my only submission for this month's challenge. This is a nice start though!! I hope I win this month because the prize package is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

  2. Lori Greenburg is amazing! That focal is perfect for the ABS challenge. I have yet to concoct something...I am trying to make my own focal. I love the way you connect things (and I don't mean just the bubble connector!). Thanks for sharing! Enjoy the day! Erin
