Bead Bloggers Round Up

Larry & Joe

Yesterday we headed to the Bouckville Madison Antique fair, and I have one word for it. MISERABLE. It was so flipping humid and hot, I just did not enjoy walking around in the hot sun. We stayed a few hours and only purchased 2 things. I got some really cute vintage buttons, for $10. Looking back on it now, I realize I should have tried to barter with the vendor a bit.
My brother in law, Kevin, found a set of Jarts, which he had been wanting. It provided some serious fun for the boys later last night after dinner.
I brought my camera with me, in hopes of taking lots of fun pictures at the fair but frankly, I was too busy sweating buckets to bother with it much. I did take this picture above of my husband and his friend Larry. They are sitting on this really cool Coke bench that I would have loved to buy had it not been $1500 ! GAH! It would have looked soo freakin cool in my kitchen though.

We barbequed some burgers, and chicken, had pulled pork sandwiches, I made a potato salad, we had some baked beans, and a friend brought chicken wing dip, and we had some pistachio marble cake for dessert. Delicious! We went to bed late, at Midnight which is really rare for me.
And here I am up by 7:30am like always. I wish I could sleep in!
I'm looking forward to getting back into the studio today to work on some new designs. I'm hoping it's not too hot up in the studio. Man, am I a big complainer today or what??!
I do have some Exciting news!! I was asked by the lovely Heather Powers of Humblebeads and the Art Bead Scene, to be a regular contributor to the Art Bead Scene Blog!! I am so excited at this new endeavor because I have admired this girl and this blog since the beginning! When I first started making jewelry I discovered the Art Bead Scene and was instantly taken by the plethora of information, the contributing editors, the pretty pictures, and mostly the monthly challenge. The first necklace that I submitted, with the Coffee Theme- was a winner!! This boosted my confidence in beading so much that I continued to keep creating pieces! Long story short, I owe a lot to ABS, and I couldn't be happier at this opportunity to give back!!
So keep your eye out for some articles written by yours truly at the Art Bead Scene!

  6. Yahoo! Congratulations to ABS' newest star! You are so all over the blo-o-sphere, I thought you were already associated with them. So happy for you. Like you, ABS wa a first blog for me too and then there was Lynn and you. I'm learning from the best!

I hate to sweat too, and my idea of fun NEVER includes hours and hours in the humid summer sun. Just wait until you produce your own power surges and personal heat waves, oy!
