Enchanted Adornments Giveaway, Number 2: OWLS
COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!
Cynthia Thornton, of Green Girl Studios, has written an amazing book called Enchanted Adornments: Creating Mixed-Media Jewelry with Metal, Clay, Wire, Resin & More, and it will be released on November 1, 2009! I am really excited about the release of this book because Cynthia and her family, are all amazingly talented and this book will totally rock the hizzouse. But not only that, I contributed a piece of jewelry for the Gallery section of the book, and am really super excited for all of you to see it!
The Green Girl Studios team, graciously donated 8 small packages of beads to be randomly given away, in honor of the big book release, to my little blog! How cool is that! This week will be the first of the 8 givaways. This SECOND package of beads contains 4 pewter beads, 1 pewter pendant and 1 Copper clay pendant, all in the OWL THEME! (Each giveaway will have a different theme!)
This week I thought I'd put a twist on it- Answer this question when leaving your comment:
Who is your favorite Bead supplier?
Could be a bead artist, or bead seller, or large wholesale site.
Which is your favorite place to get your favorite beads?
All you have to do to enter yourself to win, is leave a comment on this post!
I invite you to Please pass the word along on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, or any other online venue of your choice, however, you will ONLY BE ENTERED ONCE by leaving a comment, on this post only. 1 comment per person will be counted. if you forget and leave 2 comments, one of your comments will be disqualified. (as long as I can keep up with that)
I will draw a random winner using the Random Integer Generator, on Monday August 17th.
Good luck to everyone!!

I like my local bead store the best - Pam's Bead Garden in downtown Plymouth, MI. For the large distributors, I love Fusionbeads as I feel I can get almost anything over there. Thanks for the owl giveaway. NickiReplyDelete
I love a warehouse in Ft.Myers FL - Bab's Beads, but I don't get there too much anymore. Online I like Art Beads because I can get small amounts and they ship for free. Lima Beads is also great (free ship over $40) - they have gemstones, Green Girl, and some super deals. Since I'm 18 miles from the middle of nowhere and the nearest bead store of any type is 1 1/2 hours away, I'm looking forward to what people have to say. Also I wonder if anyone knows a bead store between Macon, GA and Gainesville, FL that they love.ReplyDelete
Love those giveaway beads!
I have a few suppliers I like for different things. I like Joan Painter for delicas. Rocki on Etsy for earwires, Bead Happily Everafter for vintage crystals and lucite, Maku and Lisa Peters on Etsy for Raku and Cbbeads for seeds. Boo Hoo, no LBS for seeds in my area.ReplyDelete
For my seed beads, Crystal Creations, a bead store in West Palm Beach, Florida and Artbeads. For art beads, definitely Etsy!!! Good luck to me. Thank you for the giveaway!! Can't wait for the book.ReplyDelete
For my seed beads, I split my purchases between Beadoholique (my LBS) and Foxden Beads (for online purchases). I have such a huge stash of beads right now that most of my purchases are art beads, and I get those from artists on Etsy - there are so many to choose from!ReplyDelete
I like Art Beads online. I like being able to get a mix of both artist beads and standard supplies. And the free shipping is great!ReplyDelete
I can't wait for the book to arrive!ReplyDelete
My favorite online stores are Art Beads, Fusion Beads and Lima Beads. I live almost one and a half hours from any bead shops, so I don't get to frequent them often.
I have been in love with the owl theme for some time now--thanks for sharing the beads with us!
Not having a local bead shop anymore, I typically get my seed beads while on trips to Wisconsin Dells. Parson's Trading Post in Lake Delton, WI has an AMAZING selection of seed beads - both Czech and Japanese - in sizes ranging from 10 to 15.ReplyDelete
Art Beads online store is my fave! Happy beading:)ReplyDelete
I'm a fan of Art Beads and Lima Beads. They are both super quick. I also buy from sellers on Etsy like Beaders Boutique.ReplyDelete
Yes me too on the Art beads. Im a great lover tho on Green girl studios and Gaea. Very talented women. For toggles Im wanting to order from Mary Harding her toggle clasps are so earthy!ReplyDelete
Oh Lorelei, your favorite thing OWLS. Well I make my own beads, so you would think that I would not want any more. Don't be silly!!! Of course I have quite a collection, I love to mix natural stone with my lampwork, and when the Innovative Bead show comes to town I stock up. I think that is the first time I saw Green Girls, I guess that is where I will be spending my money this year, I am loving their new stuff.ReplyDelete
I shop at Fusion and Fire mountain beads for wire crystals head pins ect. Local bead store The hole affair in Jackson Ca for that something I ran out of and I need it NOW. Etsy for the one of a kind piece.ReplyDelete
Those owls are so cute! I buy my seed beads locally at a little shop that has every kind and color imaginable. I like to mix and match in person. I buy on Etsy from random sellers if I want something special. I really like Happy Mango Beads because they have such an interesting variety of things.ReplyDelete
My favorite bead store is Gemstone Junction! It's a cool locally-owned store here in Texas....
it's got yummy colored gems DRIPPING from the walls!!
It's where I go when Lorelei posts something really cool and I"ve got to find some beads like that!!!
My favorite local bead store is String Beads, they have an amazing amount of seed beads, the walls are covered in them. Online I favor Fusion and Art Beads, love the no shipping. You have become my favorite online blogger, love to look at your creations. Thanks for the giveaways.ReplyDelete
So many bead stores, so little time! One of my many favorites to visit is ArtfulBeadStudio.com. They have absolutely wonderful classes and projects and the store itself is so vintage and artsy feeling.ReplyDelete
My favorite supplier is a women named "Mary" who sets up at the Nashville flea Market once a month. She has a wonderful selection of high quality beads and gems. She is a little on the eccentric side so it is fun to shop with her. I like to see the beads I am purchasing in person vs mail order.ReplyDelete
Ooo, This giveaway is great! I hope I win. My favorite suppliers are for semi-precious gemstone beads (what I work in mostly) Fire Mountin Gems (dot com) and Kripas a wholesaler in Dallas -- they have a good selection of strands and a great selection of silver finding at great prices. They are also the nicest folks I've ever met. For Art Beads I like to buy them at bead shows so I can meet the makers --I don't use a lot of art beads yet, but I'm working my way into that.ReplyDelete
Well my favorite are bead shows which we don't have too many that aren't trade shows only. Always best to handle the actual goods! Fav art beads are etsians like Eleshadesigns, javabead, glassbeadaddicts, crazycatglass, danielsbeads.gemstones from norah62, elrut, ktstudio gems. And of course LBS Bead Haven (las vegas store). Online shops I like rio grande, cindys wicked good beadz and nina designs. I'm sure I forgot a few but these I browse daily. Wish I had a money tree!ReplyDelete
Yay, owls!! :) Can I get a hoot hoot!? I guess I like Fusion Beads the best, I order from them the most.ReplyDelete
My favorite local bead store is Meant To Bead is Sun Prairie WI. www.meant-to-bead.com. I happen to work there! :) My favorite lampwork artist is Melanie aka www.moonrakerlampwork.com.ReplyDelete
Thank you! Ella
My favourite place to get beads is from a local lampwork artist named Jenna, though I only ever see her at local craft fairs. I love going through her orphaned beads box.ReplyDelete
Oh, I love her work! I'm lucky to live in Seattle, home to Fusion Beads. That's terrific for instant gratification. With more planning, I avail myself of Fire Mountain's bounty.ReplyDelete
My favorite "shop" is Etsy. I can pretty much find anything I need.I also love Fusion and Art Beads since they always have good sales and free shipping. Thanks for a great blog and your generosity.ReplyDelete
I love Japanese seed beads and Vintaj elements. I find them at our local bead shop The Potomac Bead Company here in Maryland. Online I like Fusion Beads, Fire Mountain & Aunties. And of course Etsy is a very special place. Keeping my fingers crossed !! MelReplyDelete
I love Jubilee on Etsy and Artebella surplus on Etsy. Fun beads!ReplyDelete
I also like the local bead shop in Atlanta called beads by design.
Hi, gosh, I'd have to say my very favorite is Beaded Images, then Etsy from various sellers and naturally Fire Mountain. Wow...great Giveaway! A great big "Hootie Hoot" to the fabulous Owls! Have a wonderful and beadiful day!ReplyDelete
Ohhh...these are so great! My favorite bead supplier is the bead store in Saratoga, NY. The name escapes me at this moment, but it is a very small store with a ton of beads! If you ever go to the racetrack there in August, look for the bead store.ReplyDelete
I still love my favorite bead store in Jackson, MI, Bead Culture. It is more a community that I go there for than anything else. It is where I learned to bead years ago.ReplyDelete
I now live in Texas and miss "my bead store"!
My favorite, favorite bead supplier is Caravan Beads. Our relationship started when I was selling Delicas and it continues. I love it because I know them & they treat me like a friend. Locally, I love Legendary Beads in South Austin and Mica Beads & Jewelry in San Antonio (the problem with living in between is the necessity of a fave store in each city).ReplyDelete
I wish that I had a local store that I could put all my money into, but I don't have one that consistently delivers quality at a good price.ReplyDelete
I do love ArtBeads for small orders, FusionBeads for crystals and a beautifully accessible website experience, Fire Mountain Gems for staples, Bead Trust for some unique items and Rings & Things for their traveling bead shows because it really helps to touch the beady goodness.
But I have really enjoyed my interactions with Etsians for their unique items and personal service.
I bet you are wishing you could win Lorelei, since you are all about the owls! (But my guess is that you have won in a different way, am I right? Great exposure...you are the master!)
Enjoy the day!
The bead supplier I love the most is Ornamentea.com. I love the items they sell in their store and I love the design of their website. The items they sell makes me think more creatively for my jewelry designs.ReplyDelete
I shop at my LBS for certain things and at Etsy. I like the variety at Etsy, and I find some great deals there.ReplyDelete
Welcome back from CT...I think this set of owl beads are my favorite from GGS so far! My favorites for beads/supplies are InterGem wholesale for big time in-person bead shopping, for metals and tools, it's fundametals.net and for everything else in between (especially art beads), it's Etsy!!
Favorite local shop in Raleigh, NC is, of course, Ornamentea! Also love the bead shows. We usually have one a month around here. Of course, Etsy is a big favorite, also. Thanks for hosting the giveaway. Love the pieces and your work, Lorelei!ReplyDelete
Lorelei, we are very fortunate to have two great bead stores here in Toronto. One is Bead Junction and the other is Beadfx. Beadfx takes my vote as all-time favourite because they have a great lampwork studio of which I make use every chance I get, but both stores have an amazing choice of beads and supplies available and are staffed by wonderful people.ReplyDelete
P.S. I love the GGS owl beads!!
My fave bead place ever, is Ritual Adornments, in Santa Monica, on Main...
I call it Ritual Addiction :D ~
The store has a certain earthy, eclectic vibe...
Happy Beading, All!
Look at those Owls! Oh, man it must be really hard not to hoard all those babies away for yourself, L! :P Must. Resist. ACK! hehe! :)ReplyDelete
My favorite place to shop for beads is my own local bead shop, The Riverwalk Bead Shop and Gallery! :) As you know, I work there, so I get to see everything that comes in. We carry the best gemstones and natural beads and I get an employee discount! You can't beat that!
Only one bead shop where I live - just basics. The rest I buy on line both here in Australia and overseas. My favourite place for interesting beads and gemstones is Etsy. My unfavourite thing is waiting for the mail :(ReplyDelete
Owl are absolutely delightful creatures in the flesh and so are these beads!
My favorite is our local bead store Ornamentea and sister store Panopolie. They have great discounts for wholesalers and the friendliest staff you could ever ask for.ReplyDelete
You can also buy online ornamentea.com!!
Oh boy - not sure I could ever pick just one. I like Rings 'N Things and Fusion Beads for "general supply" type stuff. Grace Beads, Little Crow and 5 Fish Beads are my faves for lampwork.ReplyDelete
I love this giveaway question! My favorite places to buy beads in Rhode Island are Waliga Imports And Wolf E. Myrow's. They are huge closeout companies with amazing vintage finds!!!ReplyDelete
For the day to day and almost all others I purchase from my little bead store here in town. Mail order is not a viable possibility here :( For the extra special unique ones I love love love LLYYNN's from both of her ETSY stores!!!!
This is an easy question, because I work for Rings & Things. Every day is another adventure at the jewelry-makers' playground. But the unique thing is, that you could have asked me this same question 35 years ago and the answer would have been the same--I shopped there when I was just a kid, buying wooden beads and hemp cord to make hippie jewelry. (And Russ Nobbs was a young troll then!)ReplyDelete
My favorite gem bead purveyor is Diane @ A-Cut-Above. She has shops on both etsy & ebay. Best customer service hands down!ReplyDelete
I have an old Indian trading post in Clinton, Ok. called "The Mohawk" that I get wonderful trade beads, crystals and wonderful seed beads. I also love the Chevron Trading Post in Ashville N.C. that I always stop in when travelling that direction and forever searching for old strands to be incorporated into new work. I love your blog!!!ReplyDelete
Sorry for the mistake on my other comments. I hope I get it right this time.ReplyDelete
I love lampwork beads from
Their beads are lovely!
My favorite bead stores are Panopolie and her sister Ornamentea in Raleigh, NC. Panopolie is a bit closer to my house, which is why it gets the top ranking ;-)ReplyDelete
I have a new favorite bead supplier on etsy called blue seraphim. She makes the most beautiful glass beads. I also like limabeads.com. Of course, I have bought Green Girl Studio pewter beads and love those as well. This was a really hard question to answer only once!ReplyDelete
I love fusion beads! Cute charms!ReplyDelete
I love to shop at The Beadin' Path online for essentials, and Etsy for art beads. You can't beat Etsy!ReplyDelete
my new love is my newly found Bamiyan Silver in Toronto. I just went and could not believe the size of the place! WOW they just have everything. I am really going to have to watch myself, things are getting out of control. Free goodies would really help!ReplyDelete
Those owl beads are awesome!ReplyDelete
it is really hard to pick just one. they all have great reasons to keep going back.
For on-line shopping, and the best selection, i will choose Rings & Things. I am never disappointed by them when I am looking for that hard to find bead - sure enough, they have it!
I love Thompson Enamels and shop exclusively with them for my enameling needs. I love bead and art in pompano beach florida. They have a great store with nice personnel and classes. I use fire mountain for other beads.ReplyDelete
My favorite bead supplier = Foxden for seed beads, Stone Age Hardware for odd things, Thunderbird Supply for Southwestern beads and FireMountain Gems for the rest.!ReplyDelete
I shop online for all my beads and supplies. There are so many great choices! But since I need to choose just one, I'd say Fire Mountain Gems is the way to go.ReplyDelete
I like etsy for artist beads and rings & Things for basic beads and tools.ReplyDelete
Being new to the wonderful world of beads, I have not yet had enough experience to have a favorite supplier. My mom has tons of beads from when she used to make jewelry so I find a lot of neat little beads in there :)ReplyDelete
good one... thanks fro sharing.....ReplyDelete
Email Marketing Solutions
I haven't found any good local bead shops around here, but online I buy mostly from Limabeads.com for gemstones and Green Girl Studios charms, monsterslayer.com for findings, wire, metal and tools, and Etsy for awesome artisan made beads and pendants. I always look for bead stores and shows when I travel too.ReplyDelete
Of course, I LOVE the owl selection being offered up, and it would truly be a dream come true if I won! Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!!
I usually go to ArtBeads.com or FusionBeads.com for Czech glass and Swarovski beads. The selection is wonderful & the free shipping is great. There's also a EBay shop that I love - Halsey Trading. They have great sales and ship free with a $40 purchase.ReplyDelete
No doubt about it... Kelleysbeads for her beautiful lampwork. Locally, I would say Country Beads... friendly staff and such a great selection for everything!!ReplyDelete
wow...so many comments...this is great...ReplyDelete
so since i make lampwork beads i have to say ME...i've been using my own beads to create some fun earrings and having a blast...
There's not much bead suppliers around where I live, so I have to buy mostly everything online. I like Perles&Co from Paris and The Bead shop from Nottingham.ReplyDelete
Since I am fairly new to this, I am loving all the suggestions I am getting. So far, I like Art Beads(free shipping), some artisans on Etsy, Green Girl and my local bead shop, Fandangle in Richmond, VAReplyDelete

I love my local bead store, Theodora's, because it has a huge wall filled with the most amazing Czech glass.ReplyDelete
