Enchanted Adornments Giveaway, Number 2: OWLS

COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED!
Cynthia Thornton, of Green Girl Studios, has written an amazing book called Enchanted Adornments: Creating Mixed-Media Jewelry with Metal, Clay, Wire, Resin & More, and it will be released on November 1, 2009! I am really excited about the release of this book because Cynthia and her family, are all amazingly talented and this book will totally rock the hizzouse. But not only that, I contributed a piece of jewelry for the Gallery section of the book, and am really super excited for all of you to see it!

The Green Girl Studios team, graciously donated 8 small packages of beads to be randomly given away, in honor of the big book release, to my little blog! How cool is that! This week will be the first of the 8 givaways. This SECOND package of beads contains 4 pewter beads, 1 pewter pendant and 1 Copper clay pendant, all in the OWL THEME! (Each giveaway will have a different theme!)

This week I thought I'd put a twist on it- Answer this question when leaving your comment:

Who is your favorite Bead supplier?
Could be a bead artist, or bead seller, or large wholesale site.
Which is your favorite place to get your favorite beads?

All you have to do to enter yourself to win, is leave a comment on this post!

I invite you to Please pass the word along on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, or any other online venue of your choice, however, you will ONLY BE ENTERED ONCE by leaving a comment, on this post only. 1 comment per person will be counted. if you forget and leave 2 comments, one of your comments will be disqualified. (as long as I can keep up with that)

I will draw a random winner using the Random Integer Generator, on Monday August 17th.
Good luck to everyone!!

  1. I like my local bead store the best - Pam's Bead Garden in downtown Plymouth, MI. For the large distributors, I love Fusionbeads as I feel I can get almost anything over there. Thanks for the owl giveaway. Nicki

  2. I love a warehouse in Ft.Myers FL - Bab's Beads, but I don't get there too much anymore. Online I like Art Beads because I can get small amounts and they ship for free. Lima Beads is also great (free ship over $40) - they have gemstones, Green Girl, and some super deals. Since I'm 18 miles from the middle of nowhere and the nearest bead store of any type is 1 1/2 hours away, I'm looking forward to what people have to say. Also I wonder if anyone knows a bead store between Macon, GA and Gainesville, FL that they love.
    Love those giveaway beads!

  3. I have a few suppliers I like for different things. I like Joan Painter for delicas. Rocki on Etsy for earwires, Bead Happily Everafter for vintage crystals and lucite, Maku and Lisa Peters on Etsy for Raku and Cbbeads for seeds. Boo Hoo, no LBS for seeds in my area.

  4. For my seed beads, Crystal Creations, a bead store in West Palm Beach, Florida and Artbeads. For art beads, definitely Etsy!!! Good luck to me. Thank you for the giveaway!! Can't wait for the book.

  5. For my seed beads, I split my purchases between Beadoholique (my LBS) and Foxden Beads (for online purchases). I have such a huge stash of beads right now that most of my purchases are art beads, and I get those from artists on Etsy - there are so many to choose from!

  6. I like Art Beads online. I like being able to get a mix of both artist beads and standard supplies. And the free shipping is great!

  7. I can't wait for the book to arrive!

My favorite online stores are Art Beads, Fusion Beads and Lima Beads. I live almost one and a half hours from any bead shops, so I don't get to frequent them often.

I have been in love with the owl theme for some time now--thanks for sharing the beads with us!

  8. Not having a local bead shop anymore, I typically get my seed beads while on trips to Wisconsin Dells. Parson's Trading Post in Lake Delton, WI has an AMAZING selection of seed beads - both Czech and Japanese - in sizes ranging from 10 to 15.

  12. Oh Lorelei, your favorite thing OWLS. Well I make my own beads, so you would think that I would not want any more. Don't be silly!!! Of course I have quite a collection, I love to mix natural stone with my lampwork, and when the Innovative Bead show comes to town I stock up. I think that is the first time I saw Green Girls, I guess that is where I will be spending my money this year, I am loving their new stuff.

  17. So many bead stores, so little time! One of my many favorites to visit is ArtfulBeadStudio.com. They have absolutely wonderful classes and projects and the store itself is so vintage and artsy feeling.

  18. My favorite supplier is a women named "Mary" who sets up at the Nashville flea Market once a month. She has a wonderful selection of high quality beads and gems. She is a little on the eccentric side so it is fun to shop with her. I like to see the beads I am purchasing in person vs mail order.

  19. Ooo, This giveaway is great! I hope I win. My favorite suppliers are for semi-precious gemstone beads (what I work in mostly) Fire Mountin Gems (dot com) and Kripas a wholesaler in Dallas -- they have a good selection of strands and a great selection of silver finding at great prices. They are also the nicest folks I've ever met. For Art Beads I like to buy them at bead shows so I can meet the makers --I don't use a lot of art beads yet, but I'm working my way into that.

  28. Ohhh...these are so great! My favorite bead supplier is the bead store in Saratoga, NY. The name escapes me at this moment, but it is a very small store with a ton of beads! If you ever go to the racetrack there in August, look for the bead store.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I still love my favorite bead store in Jackson, MI, Bead Culture. It is more a community that I go there for than anything else. It is where I learned to bead years ago.

I now live in Texas and miss "my bead store"!

    ReplyDelete
  30. My favorite, favorite bead supplier is Caravan Beads. Our relationship started when I was selling Delicas and it continues. I love it because I know them & they treat me like a friend. Locally, I love Legendary Beads in South Austin and Mica Beads & Jewelry in San Antonio (the problem with living in between is the necessity of a fave store in each city).

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wish that I had a local store that I could put all my money into, but I don't have one that consistently delivers quality at a good price.
I do love ArtBeads for small orders, FusionBeads for crystals and a beautifully accessible website experience, Fire Mountain Gems for staples, Bead Trust for some unique items and Rings & Things for their traveling bead shows because it really helps to touch the beady goodness.

But I have really enjoyed my interactions with Etsians for their unique items and personal service.

I bet you are wishing you could win Lorelei, since you are all about the owls! (But my guess is that you have won in a different way, am I right? Great exposure...you are the master!)

    Enjoy the day!

Beadfx takes my vote as all-time favourite because they have a great lampwork studio of which I make use every chance I get, but both stores have an amazing choice of beads and supplies available and are staffed by wonderful people.

P.S. I love the GGS owl beads!!

  44. This is an easy question, because I work for Rings & Things. Every day is another adventure at the jewelry-makers' playground. But the unique thing is, that you could have asked me this same question 35 years ago and the answer would have been the same--I shopped there when I was just a kid, buying wooden beads and hemp cord to make hippie jewelry. (And Russ Nobbs was a young troll then!)
