An inspiring space
I went over to my friend Tara's last night for a little beading date. Tara makes beautiful jewelry and sells it at local craft fairs and on Etsy at Beaded Bird.
Tara just renovated her studio space which is on the 3rd floor of her beautiful home. I love what she did with the space. She found a nice full length of counter top at a local bargain center, and placed it on top of these sweet black modern cabinets, that have drawers/cupboards with cool contemporary handles. This is her work space. Above the counter she installed some metal sheeting and framed it all in with wood, and painted the wood black.
To store her beads, she placed them in little clear topped, screw lid containers and put magnets on the back of them so that they stick to the metal sheeting. This gets all the beads up off her work space and she can't see them at a glance! Brilliant!!
I created a couple of pieces while I was there, and will be listing them for sale on Etsy this morning.
What a Wonderful Studio!ReplyDelete

Very cool space. And her jewelry is pretty cool, too.ReplyDelete
This is a wonderful space! I am envious!ReplyDelete
Bravo Tara!!! What a peaceful and organized space... It brings to mind a clean slate - a place full of potential creations coming into existence... And nothing getting lost there...ReplyDelete
Thanks for sharing Lorelei!
How cool to have a beady friend like that, L! What an incredible studio space! So much work space on those counters and the magnet board is awesome. Not only can she see all her beads but she can put all kinds of things up there, like pictures and inspirations, too!ReplyDelete
Wow, it seems so clean. I wish I was organized like this. And having the bead containers up on the wall is such a great idea. You can see everything without it being in the way.ReplyDelete
very cool idea for storage - I'll have to come back to this when I finally get around to reorganizing my own beads.ReplyDelete
thanks for sharing!
Oh, P.S. Lorelei: When I got home from the movie, I (like you) was thoroughly P.O.'d. I asked my daughter about the story. Without telling my anything, she showed me a sticker she has in her room. It says "TRUST SNAPE". Hmmmmm......ReplyDelete
That is an awesome space! I actually did the same thing in my laundry room/studio in the basement (don't worry, I don't even know how the laundry works...that is what my darling husband is for!). I have a wall of sheet metal and that jar idea was what I wanted to do, but that never really happened, and so I ended up with more of an inspiration wall, like your fridge gone wild. (I really do need to edit it as it has become overrun). I love the sparseness of the space, which is so unlike me. I have constant clutter and chaos. I need to get my pro organizer back in to assist me! Can't wait to see what you created! Enjoy the day!ReplyDelete
oh, I love that! How great to able to see all the beads like thatReplyDelete
