Cynthia Thornton, of Green Girl Studios, has written an amazing book called Enchanted Adornments: Creating Mixed-Media Jewelry with Metal, Clay, Wire, Resin & More, and it will be released on November 1, 2009! This week will be the first of the 8 givaways. This FOURTH package of beads contains 7 pewter beads/pendants, all in the HEART THEME! There are many hearts so these have been broken up into 2 heart packs. this is the first of the 2. (Each giveaway will have a different theme!)

My mum made my wedding dress and the bodice was beaded with these. I made accessories for my hair from them. Since then they seem too special to me to use in anything else.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, a difficult question for sure! It could be the vintage glass beads my twin sis gave me when I was just starting out in the craft, or the cool pendant I purchased which is made out of a broken shard of Fiestaware from DVH Designs. ReplyDeleteI suppose if I really really had to decide what my most prized bead is, it would have to be the very first lampwork bead my husband made. It's not the prettiest thing but I appreciate the fact that he's taken me to Beadfest all these years and even found something in the bead world he enjoys.

ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago my husband made me a lampworked glass frog bead; it is the poster child for wonky beads--or in the frog world, an example of what can happen if we don't care for the environment. Oh how I love this funky little bead. It was maybe the second bead he had ever made and always brings a smile to my face :-)

Hey, I think I am #50!
I recently purchased two cameos that have outstanding detail and symbology in them. I can't wait to wrap them up in something special.
ReplyDeleteI have a beautiful bone carving of a mermaid that I purchased over a year ago. It is so lovely that I'm having a hard time finding other beads to go with it to make a necklace.
ReplyDeleteI have a huge lampwork glass bead from Dianne Woodall. It is a work of art in itself and I don't know if I will ever use it because I like to look at it and feel the textures. The colors are a mesmerizing melange of forest greens and browns with tinges of gold. Yes, I am obsessed with art beads!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite beads are the new enameled ones I'm making that are like filigree. Oh, and I absolutely love the aqua and brown Peruvian Opal chunks that I have. They are about 53 mm long.
