London Here we come and the Bead Bloggers round up

Not sure if you were around back then, but last year around this time, I went to New York City for a courier trip for work. I invited my friend Nancy along. We had a blast! Read the post!

My connection with Nancy is kind of cool. I met her online through Etsy. But she lives in my home town! Anyway, Nancy is my favorite travelling companion. She's super easy going, laid back, and keeps me sane and not a total stress case while I'm traversing a city I've never been to. But not only that, she's a fun person to be around. We laugh, and we joke, and we talk about Etsy a lot which is nice too!
Nancy will be joining me on another fun filled courier trip, this time to a much further land...one across the seas. LONDON. We arrive in London, one week from today. We will be arriving separately and will meet up at our hotel. I am a nervous wreck, of course. I am like the worst traveller and extreme worrywart. But I am looking forward to seeing Nancy and exploring the city. Oh yea, and there's a little bit of work involved too.
Being that this week will be full of panic, packing, and trying to remember everything, I may not be listing new jewelry in the shop this week. I'll keep the shop open of course, and will do my best at blogging. (I'll announce the winner of the Hearts giveaway Monday morning) But I think this might be all I can handle for this week.
I promise to share lots of cool pictures from our trip when we get back home. We will be in London Sunday through Tues, returning home on Wednesday. A short jaunt, but we will do our damndest to see as much as we can while we're there. Neither of us has been to London before, so this will be a real treat. If you have any suggestions on food, tourist hotspots, or the like, leave a comment!

  1. How exciting Lorelei. I went to England and Scotland last summer, my Mom is Scottish and I visited there every other summer. We were in London for only one day, we had a tour guide take us on a whirlwind tour. My 88 year old Mom got to see where she lived when she was 16.
I will call my Mom to find out where you should go. Looking forward to Wednesday!!!

  2. Of course you'll do Victoria and Albert, right??? But the British Museum is great (Rosetta Stone!) and the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey. Tower of London - do early because of crowds! Check the schedule for Westminster Abbey - it is closed certain days and certain hours! You have to go to Victoria Station just to see all the shops and the grocery store there is cool! If I think if anything else, I'll email you!!! Have FUN!

  4. British Museum, the new Tate, National Gallery ( they have a nice cafeteria), Covent Garden ( there are a couple of bead shops around there.) If you go to the Tower, say hello to the Raven!
Enjoy your trip! Oh and Hyde Park, Peter Pan's there!

  5. London! You'll explore every nook and cranny and bead shop while you're there! I love Stratford-upon-Avon, and the Tower, supposedly haunted. Don't forget to enjoy a pint of Guinness and some yummy fish and chips. Above all, relax and have fun!

  7. Lorelei... I lived in London as a student, and have returned numerous times since then. It feels like "home" to me in many ways. You will have a wonderful time, but your time is brief. THe temptation is to pack in too much, and it all be a blur.

Museums: You are a museum girl, you know the drill. I recommend selecting 1. Only one. V&A for jewelry/dec. arts I assume. Then leave the V&A have a cream tea at Herrods. ( Both are in Kensington/Knightsbridge.)Its enough to go in, walk the food court, then have tea and scones with clotted Devon cream. Trust me. Mini food orgasm.

Odd as this may sound, I sort or recommend one of the classic sightseeing bus tours. Sure, you are surrounded by tourists; and you get a glimpse of the iconic landmarks as you drive by. But its thrilling to see, and soak up the atmosphere, and then you can select one to go see in more depth. (Warning: many tourist attractions may be closed Mon. like museums often are...) I could go on and on...

I was there last year, to the day, on the 13th, my birthday... sigh...
Have fun! Drink cider at a pub! Eat fish and chips and mushy peas!
