Good, the Bad, the Beautiful

Make you sure enter to win the Book giveaway from yesterday, you have til 4pm today to enter!

Good news:

- I turned another year older, another year of wisdom, and experience, and life... it's all passing me by so quickly I sometimes can't keep up.

-I got to spend my birthday afternoon with one of my favorite friends, and this was one of the gifts she bought me!

- I enjoyed a nice evening out with my honey, and had a most excellent dinner and even have leftovers for lunch today!

-My friend Maggie bought me the cutest bird house on Etsy that I had coveted. I saw it sell out from my favorites and was so surprised when she gifted it to me yesterday! I can't wait to hang it up outside!

-Joe surprised me with this for my birthday gift!

- My mother made me the most beautiful handmade crazy quilt and gave it to me this past weekend! Isn't it just super! I love it, so happy and colorful!

-I bought myself these super cute Chaco sandals from Zappos, and can't wait to show them off.

-I was able to make this adorable beaded bracelet this morning to put in my Etsy shop.

- My jewelry will soon be available for sale at a cute little shop in Carbondale Colorado, called "nest"!

The kick in the pants news:

-BeadStar did not receive any of my 5 emailed submissions, they are floating around in cyberspace unclaimed, unloved, unseen. So very sad about this. I was really happy to be able to put together a few pieces for 5 of the categories.  So. Now. What to do with them?? Submit them to something else? sell them in the shop? Hold em til next year's Bead Star? Give em away as gifts?   Update: This turned into a good thing afterall.... They were able to find my entries!

- A dear high school friend died from a long 3 year battle with Cancer. Makes the above bad news, not so bad afterall.

I would say that you should try for other publications. I am sure that they rock! And if that doesn't work, sell them.

So sorry Lorelei about the loss of your friend.

    Enjoy the day.

  6. Lorelei, Happy Birthday!! You are right about the another year wiser with more experience- wait until you turn 55!! I did this year... Very sorry about your friend, my husband lost his best friend since grade school to the disease last year. It is a horrible disease and so sad for those left behind. I also sent entries to Bead Star and didn't get any kind of conformation. Now I am wondering too?
You are a talented young thing so keep on keeping on, you will be fine. Sounds like a lot of people really love you and I sure appreciate your videos and and all the inspiration you share. Adorable birdhouse!!

  7. Happy, happy, happy birthday to you! Wow, you received some awesome gifts!

Too bad about your submissions to BeadStar. I'd take them off your hands so you don't have to worry about what to do with them!

I'm sorry to hear about your high school friend. It seems so many are affected by cancer these days, and it really makes a person wonder why.

  8. So sorry about your friend. I feel very deeply for you as I went through something similar. My best friend died of Cancer a few years ago we were only 23 when it happened. He fought for 4 years. It turned my whole world upside down.

On a happier note, I absolutely adore the quilt your mom made!! So fun and full of colour!! I have always wanted one like that. I may just have to learn to sew ;)

Hugs my friend, and have a great day :)

  11. Lorelei - It looks like you had a wonderful birthday. I love your Mom's quilt. I used to quilt so I know the time and effort that went into making that beautiful piece. I also think the bird house is adorable.

I am so sorry about Bead Star. I also received automatic replies. Maybe you should just save your lovely designs for next year. You will be ahead of the curve.

With my deepest sympathy regarding your friend.
