Still not sure...

Still not sure if I'm in love with the new layout, but this is what the studio is looking like today...
A bit messy but no comparison to some studios I've seen, wink wink!! ;)

Got the new magnetic boards up, and partly filled with findings. I'm wishing I had a knife magnetic so I could hang the pliers up too. The only problem with these boards is, they attach to the wall at the top of each panel and if the magnets are fairly strong, the bottom pulls out when you are grabbing the containers off of the panel. I'm sure I could rig something up to attach the bottom of the panel more securely to the wall.

This new system is working quite well so far. Beads are color coordinated to make it easier to pull them out, and they are nice and close so I don't have to get up and bend over tables full of trays! The plug, though, is in my way so the table overlaps the bookshelf which does kind of annoy me.

Well anyway, that's where we're at with that.  Joe's appointment yesterday went fairly well- basically the second opinion ended up being just like the first. Still not sure what Joe is going to end up deciding. Agressive treatment or pain. I'll keep you informed.

  1. this layout looks great. love your bead shelf and the magnetic boards are very cool, you might check out mirror clips for the Mb bottoms.
i have plug placement issues as well.fortunately,my shelves are opened backed so i just place them over the outlet, tape the electrical wire inplace and thread around the shelf edge..not house and garden beautiful but solves the problem

  4. Looks Gret Lorelei! I live in an older home too and there are never enough plugs (and when there are, they are inaccessible). I have surge-protector power-strips I plug in and use. The cord to the wall outlet is behind the furniture, but the power strip and its outlets are easy to get to. And you can turn off everything with one switch.

  6. Are you wink-winking at me, Miss L? Because I will take that wink and raise you a fist pump, sistah! I think the studio is shaping up nicely. I am in the process of slowly filling up my Hamilton with all sorts of beady goodness but that is taking me away from the creating I should be doing which is impossible in the state of utter chaos that I am in! Argh! Vicious cycle all around.
Thinking of Joe and wishing him peace in his decision.
    Enjoy the day!

  7. Looking good Lorelei, I was in the studio till 1 last night setting up the metalsmithing bench. I will blog after pictures the before pictures are too scary. Hope Joe feels better, I have a few young friends with arthritis and sometimes the meds are the lesser of two evils. These choices are never easy.

  9. If you are anything like me and you are not completely happy with it, you are going to change it until you are happy! LOL! The table overlapping the shelf would bug me too, I think if there was a way to move the shelf back a bit... I would have to see it. Otherwise, looks good!

WOW !! Great Job ! Where did you get those magnetic boards ?

  11. Have you thought of adding extra shelves to the book case? That would greatly increase storage for the dreaded plastic boxes and make it easier to pull them out.

  12. Wishing your husband all the best - my godfather has had arthritis since his late 20s (now in early 60s) and I know just how much of a total bugger it can be. And the drugs! Not an easy decision so I really do wish both of you all the best with that. Gorgeous necklace in above post and thanks for sharing more studio pics with us - I love seeing into peoples houses, I am so nosy!

  14. I think your studio looks great! I wish I had a studio...but anyway where did you get the magnetic containers from?

  15. Oh the magnetic panels came from Michaels. Each came with 4 magnetic containers, and then I bought an extra set of containers separately. The panels were $20 each.(i think!?)

  16. I think it looks great and very, very tidy!

  17. I use magnetic containers also - I bought pieces of sheet metal at a hardware store and screwed it to the wall studs with strong screws - it works great and wasn't too expensive. Check out pictures at http://beadsforbusygals.blogspot.com/2010/05/before-and-after-and-soup.html My dream someday is to have an ENTIRE WALL of a room covered in sheet metals and magnetic containers of beady goodness :-)

  18. It's always fun to see another beader's studio! It looks like a nice room to design in. There is a link to my studio on my blog side bar if you care to visit. Congrats on winning the bead give-away! Connie
