He's Hired!!
Look what happens when my Love gets bored ... He came into the studio and said he wanted to make some earrings. I just about shit.
First collaborative effort between the two of us, EVER. Well, besides like the house, landscaping and stuff like that. Joe has some serious skillz when it comes to stained glass. He's done some pretty amazing things, windows, lamps, decorative panels, sun catchers... you name it. Since moving into our current home, he hasn't played around with this glass at all. He cut the glass in these earrings, and I created the wire bezels, and Joe did all the soldering. Then we patinaed each one giving it a darkened silvery look. I wire wrapped some faceted green amethyst, and some glass rounds and dangled them below each of the glass pieces. The earring wires are handmade from E2Ssupplies.
I think I may have created a monster! There are 2 more pairs of stained glass earrings in the works now as I type this.
I like how these turned out, unfortunately, the glass got switched when he did the soldering, and one has a shiny side up and the other has a textured side up. Ahh well, they're still cool.
Oh dear - just keep going with that collaboration!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! How awesome! And how FUN it must be.
Wow! How cute -- you make a great team!
ReplyDeleteGo Joe! These earrings ROCK! Nice job yous guys :D
ReplyDeleteI burst out laughing when I read that. I had the same response when my husband wanted to take a turn on the pottery wheel. These are great, BTW.

ReplyDeleteWHAT, WHAT!!! :o I nearly fell off my chair when you said Joe made these!!! That's amazing! Joe and Lori, these are fabulous, I love them! Wow! I was intrigued when Joe said he did stained glass. Joe must have been inspired by your trip here! With the artisan community that's here and the shops filled with local art. Is that it? Because if it is, that makes me SO happy! This is so exciting! You go guys! Keep up the great work! :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome collaborative work!!! I prefer the shiny side.
ReplyDeleteNice earrings. Too bad out the wrong side up. They would make a very cool fan chain pull.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these!! I would really like a pair as I also do stained glass. Those earrings are perfect!
ReplyDeleteContact me if he can re-create those....
Thank you everyone!!
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, would you want this pair? they are available! :)
Way, way cool!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have unleashed a monster, the good kind. A beading husband, what more could a beading girl want? not much else...
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour man is so talented!
I'm sure you realize one of the earrings would make a lovely pendant!

I love those earrings! Isn't it fun when our men come into our studio's? I convinced mine to sit in on a girls day and create with us once. He came up with totally out of the box ideas that inspired all of us.
ReplyDeleteMy husband said he wanted to make doll (like I do) a few months back. I too just about sh*t. :) Nothing has come of it, I think he just wanted to see the look on my face!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! all the way around.
ReplyDeleteYea. He's a keeper, that one! Great collaboration!
ReplyDeleteDoes he now get part of the profits?
Enjoy the day!

ReplyDeleteEveryone wants to be a beader...they all know we're super cool! I love these, the possibilities with stained glass are endless!
ReplyDeleteOkay, the stained glass pieces are just way too cool. I smell another "Belle Armoire" submission coming on...
ReplyDeleteok, i want to know how you made these bezels - just wire? no sheet metal? hammered? so curious.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! You know when my husband told me a few years ago that he wanted to learn lampworking i almost fell over. Now we are finally sharing a studio together. BTW, you need to make more of these earrings and sell them!
ReplyDeleteYou guys should collaborate together more often!! Fantastic!!
ReplyDeletelove the earrings you and Joe created, what talent you both and how exciting to work together both doing things you love to do.
