Michaels Challenge Update

Happy Wednesday!

I just wanted to do a quick post and clarify a few things regarding some of the questions I've been getting about the Michaels Beading challenge.

A lot of you are concerned if you can't find the exact same beads that I got. I think it is TOTALLY cool, if you end up not finding exactly the same strands, substitute similar beads!

SO if you can't find these exact big fat white pearls, just use other white pearls you can find.
The wood cubes might be hard to substitute since I haven't seen those many places. If you can only find a larger chain, go with that. If you can only find the Black cinnabar beads, get those. They are dark enough that it probably won't matter.

Just do the best you can finding the similar style and colors that I found. If you can only get 4 strands, that's okay too. Just use those, and substitute other beads as your "additional beads". This is laid back, a fun little challenge- doesn't have to be set in stone. It's more about challenging yourself with the color palette, and working with several different mediums in one piece of jewelry.

Hope that clears things up!  Check out this post to find out more about the challenge if you are just tuning in.

  1. I love the idea of this challenge! I wish I weren't so swamped or even I might give it a go. Your choices are fabulously eclectic and I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

  2. I've been completely lost in my own world lately and not paying attention to the blogosphere at all and yet somehow I still managed to create a bracelet and earrings over the weekend that used those dark cinnabar round beads LOL! I can play those in the challenge, right?

  5. Lorelei,

I went back and realized I was reading the wrong post and assumed we could use our own focal pieces. Now I realize that was in your other challenge! Does that rule apply to this one as well, or should the focal count as one of the two extra types of beads we use?
