Immediately Inspired

It is so pretty, I could almost take this ring of Sage and dried flowers, throw it on my wrist and call it a day. I was immediately inspired by this image and sat down last night to put my idea to work. Triple stranded bracelet with sticks of green Kyanite form the bracelet. I give a lot of those patient people credit, like Andrew Thornton- who probably would have wire wrapped each little stick on a headpin - attached them to chain like charms- and that would have been a bit more of the look of the original photo.

But you all know me by now- and wire wrapping 300 kyanite sticks just isn't my style. So I just strung them on wire with little metallic gray seed beads in between each.  THREE STRANDS! It probably wouldn't have taken me all night like it did, if I didn't get one strand beaded and then something happened, the end of the wire flicked and I had kyanite sticks everywhere including one or two down by brasiere. no joke.

The focal bead on the bracelet is a hand-painted Kazuri bead in the most perfect colors that match the photo. I just wire wrapped it and added the brass lobster clasp. I thought about a ribbon embellishment but it kind of took a more modern piece and turned it into a "i'm trying really too hard to make this matchy-matchy" bracelet. Of course, matching earrings were created- the purple lampwork beads are from Kelly.

This set is listed at big cartel. Thanks for stopping in!

  4. You've translated the wreath masterfully. It's always interesting to see an artist's muse.

(And, depending on the time constraints... maybe, maybe not. They may or may not get all wire-wrapped. But I will say that after some of my crazy, thousands of wire-wrapped bead necklaces, I'm a pretty fast wire-wrapper.)

And girl, you need to get yourself a Bead Stopper or a dedicated clothes pin. You'll thank yourself later.

  5. I love that I am not the only one who sends beads skittering every which way and yes, Andrew, I do have bead stoppers. Don't ask me how I do it, I am just creative like that. LOL

And I love the bracelet. Your interpretation of the sage is great.

  15. Luv'ly guv'ner ... something about the sage is pulling an suedo english accent out of me ...

And the rain is pouring outside as I write this ... the day has been sunny rainy sunny rainy (a few more times) and now it is a deluge of pea-sized hail! How cool is that? I love the weather ... and I love your blogs.

  17. Oh! these are so beautiful and full of springtime. They make me happy just looking at them.

I'm seriously thinking about sending you some bead stoppers.

P.S. If any beads fell down my brasiere, they would fall to the floor the minute I stood up.

  18. I loved hearing about (and seeing) your source of inspiration. Your bracelet is gorgeous!

I agree with Andrew: Bead Stoppers have saved me so much frustration.-- However the visual of those little kyanite sticks flying everywhere, even down your blouse, was pretty funny!
