Earthenwood Design Team: Eggs
Last night I got the package from Interweave with my jewelry from Wire Style 2. I was so pleased to finally get it back, because it allowed me get in the studio to work on "other" things instead of jewelry to put in the shop. I was able to sit down and create with the new Egg series from Melanie Brooks of Earthenwood Studio. She really outdid herself with these, they are so fun! I received the teal blue version of the egg shaped toggle, egg charm, and matching connector bead. I love the crackle finish of these!
Green Girl Studios birds landed in this necklace design and are a perfect match with the eggs. The bird toggle works perfectly with the egg toggle ring. Along the front of the necklace are fancy polymer clay coin beads from Pamela Wynn. They are stunning, and I was so thrilled that I could mix in the little rust colored petal dots- which move back and forth in between over the silver seed beads. Asymmetrically placed at the front is the egg dangle and a wire wrapped flying bird. The bird took me awhile to figure out how to attach it to the necklace. The first try was a headpin strung through it but it is a heavy little bead and kept flopping the wrong way. Wire wrapped this way, worked much better. The connector is the transition between the front beaded clay beads, and the back beaded section- which is Czech glass rondelles and glass pearls.
Right before I attached the wire to the connector, I quickly though of Barbara's FLY bezel pendant that she had sent me and the coloring is a perfect match. Although a quick last edition, I am quite happy with the turnout! I am so pleased with how this piece turned out. I am finally feeling like my mojo is returning and I can actually focus on jewelry that takes me more than 30 minutes to make.
