Weekend Pretties and Totally random thoughts

After having spent most of Sunday in the studio, and cranking out some new work, I want more. It's Monday. Back to work but I don't want to go. I want another day in the studio, like yesterday. I envy so many people who can stay home and be creative all day. Sometimes my job is sucking the life out of me but I know I should be grateful to be working. Isn't the grass always greener on the other side?

Today is day 5 of keeping track of my basal temps. I am finally now taking a pro-active approach to try getting pregnant. It feels good to know that I am actually doing something useful. Although I am taking the temps, I am still not sure what to look for, and am hoping that my friend Christine's book that she is sending me, arrives today so I can learn about what the spikes mean.
I hope it still doesn't feel like work when the time comes to get busy.  At 37 years old now, that internal clock I have has started ticking in overdrive. Am hoping June is the month. I could use your prayers if you have a spare moment. ;)

I've got a boatload of buttons to give away. Later this week, I will have 4 containers of buttons for a big blog giveaway.

I am a little sad that it's already May 23rd. May is almost over, and in the past has been the most beautiful month but all it's done is rain rain rain rain. I am sick to death of it. Can the sun please come out for 2-3 consecutive days please. PLEASE!

  2. Lorelei, I'll be praying for you! And there is an app for that. Having had three kids the first at 33 and the last at 41 it is not too late. I used the basal thermometer with the first two. I'm pretty sure the spikes mean that you are ovulating but I would rely on an expert and check your book - or maybe its the dip in temps that mean you are ovulating. Anyway good luck - it can be soo frustrating the first time and so heartbreaking when it doesn't happen. Hang in there!

  17. Lorelei, my sister had trouble conceiving and after trying various fertility methods, finally had a beautiful daughter. She tried for years to become pregnant again, but without luck. It wasn't until she decided to be happy with one child and give up trying for another, that she got pregnant with her son! This same thing also happened to my neighbor (who was told by her doctor that she would never be able to conceive and she has three wonderful kids now) - so remember to keep yourself as stress free as you can (although it's easier said than done) and I believe that your wish will come true! Big hugs and prayers!

  18. Hey Lorelei - I went through fertility treatments. Your temp spike means Estrogen is backing down and progesterone is stepping up making a nice warm bed for a baby and halting ovulation - def time to get busy. It will feel like another full time job at times - I think it's the nature of the beast - just remember it's the end result. XOXO I have my parts crossed for you : )

  19. Hi,I can sooo identify your comments about having to go to work instead of being able to spend that time being creative doing something you love.
I also want to say that you have my prayers.

  20. Charting my temp worked really well for me...I had a very long cycle, always (37 -42 days) and it is important to remember when you find that spike (followed by a drop), ovulation is occuring and your period will follow 14 days later, like clockwork, unless (as My Life Under the Bus put it) you get busy! It is the first part of the cycle that can be variable. Girls are fertilized by slow swimming sperm and boys by fast swimmers, so they say. As in life, girls have endurance and the boys die young...:)

I was 41 when I had Rachel and 43 when I had Max. I also had a miscarriage 6 months before conceiving Rachel, but all worked out in the end. I'm an OLD mum...often people think I'm their granny, but they are the most marvellous thing that has ever happened to me. Sending fecund thoughts your way...

  24. Well, you know I feel for you on the pregnancy thing. Josh and I have been there. It's such a roller coaster ride of emotions when you're trying. You're not alone in this. We tried for 6 years with nothing and then all of a sudden, out-of-the-blue got pregnant. My prayers are always with you. I do believe if you really want this and it's meant to be, you WILL find a way to make it happen. Have you checked your health insurance? Many health insurance companies cover some of the expenses for fertility treatments, if you want to go that route. I wish you all the happiness in the world, Love and the jewelry looks great, btw! :)

This is the chart and site that helped me a lot. I decided in Aug that I wanted to get pregnant and began charting immediately because of fertility issues in my family. I was pregnant by Oct 11th :-) She'll be 2 next month.
Keep your charts because if there is an issue (which I pray there isn't) then you will want those charts.
Take tep before doing anything else in the am. I kept the chart, pen and therm. next to bed and before even stepping foot out of bed (at same time every morning) I would take my temp.
    :-)

Praying for you and Joe that you conceive soon. I charted my basal temperature faithfully and it worked for us. It isn't difficult to do at all. Just like My Sweet Daughter said, I kept the pen, thermometer and chart on my night stand and took my temp even before stepping out of bed, as soon as I woke up. When you are pregnant, your temperature will stay elevated. Good luck and again, my prayers are with you and Joe.

  27. I'm playing catch up on all the blogs I've been missing my daily readings of. End of school year and T ball games have sucked up all my blog time but anyways wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and try fertilityfriend.com everyday add your temp and any other info or symptoms they list in and you can track your ovulation it's super easy and it'll show you when you ovulate I used it with my last baby (who just turned 1!! yikes! already? that was fast!) also try to take your temp at the same time first thing when you wake up everyday and before you get out of bed and start moving around or drink anything.
