Lampwork Focal Giveaway
I was contacted a few weeks ago by Pascal, owner of Querbeads on Etsy, wanting to donate a bead for a blog giveaway! This is the bead- it has gorgeous colors and is encased in clear glass. The depth of color is amazing, and it just cannot be portrayed accurately with the camera but I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
***To win this bead, please leave one comment on this post -
say whatever you want but make it interesting.
I already know you think the bead is pretty.
Tell me something I don't know! ;)

If you would rather shop at Querbead instead, Pascal is offering 15% off with coupon code lorelei !

hmmm, what don't you know? ... Oh, I WANT THAT BEAD!
ReplyDeleteThat last photo you posted, with the gold accent at the left, looks like a sunset over water. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI too need more beads like a hole in the head, but that probably isn't too interesting...
ReplyDeleteWell here is something interesting/funny that happened to me today. My friends two little kids asked me today if I have ever had sex in space. My response: I've never been in space.
I guess they were watching some Universe Series and one was on sex in space. Gotta love kids. I hope you will be able to be asked the same kinds of fun questions in a few years too:).
This bead makes me think of the beautiful sunset I hope to see in Florida this fall!
ReplyDeleteI love the aurora effect of the glass work. Mesmerizing...ethereal...just my color pallet. I <3 this bead in a lustful way!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beauty! Sign me up!
ReplyDeleteOh my god.. this is absolutely fantastic!! :D
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I can participate in this give away (since I am from Greece.. that means far far away.. :P) but I have to tell you that this bead somehow reminds me of our universe and our galaxy (I really don't know why!!). When I look inside it (through your photos..) it reminds me of how small we all are in comparison to the infinite.. Its colors are awesome...
Anyway, I really like your blog - Love from Thessaloniki, Greece - Fany
"Red sky at night sailor's delight!" This saying came to mind when I looked at the last picture of this beautiful lampworked bead.
ReplyDeleteTherese
Bet you didn't know that today is National Meteor Day - really it is!! That bead would be beautiful in a necklace for my sister's birthday - just her colors.
ReplyDeleteHi Lorelei, i have been away from my computer for 3 days now, Jack had a Doctors appointment in London and "YIPPY SKIPPY" no more crutches, still the walking cast for 4 more weeks!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't think of a better post to come back to than a post from one of my fave bloggers & a fab giveaway as the icing on the cake!!! & who better to give away such a unique, creative bead than u Lorelei i would definatly use some warm copper wire to create something simple with this bead so it would be the star (well actually sunshine) of the show, it reminds me of the beautiful sunset i saw when i was in Keywest reflecting off the calm ocean waters, the most amazing place to see the sun set!!
take care ttfn Lana :)
Lampworks so Wonderful what one can do with the glass! Glass loves to slump for one thing, but once a Lampworker learns their craft the possibilities are endless what you can do with it. From the Borosilicate to the Moretti glass its all devine. Some Lampwork you strike in the flame to get different colours and the boro colours could be compared to the Hubble spacecraft that has taken brilliant pics of our earliest of creation Universe! A lovely bead here!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you know how beautiful that bead would look hanging from a ribbon around my neck. Simple and beautiful to show off the bead (and me,lol).
ReplyDeleteWow! It looks like a whole universe is inside it. Kind of like you would lose yourself gazing at it.

OK, since you asked for something interesting, and something you don't know, I will have to digress to something un-jewelry related. A scientist in Russia has found a way to domesticate foxes. They act just like dogs. Their tails curl up, their ears get droopy and their coats get spotted. Just like dogs!
ReplyDeleteStaring into that bead and letting my imagination run away with me, is the closest thing I'm gonna get to a vacation this summer. I need to win it so I can vicariously goof off!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the Big Butler Fair this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe bead is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteBut it reminds me of our expected heatwave staring tomorrow - 100+.
But just like the heat, I'd find a cool way to use that bead!
1. That bead is amazingly beautiful, but that you know.
ReplyDelete2. I really, really want to win this giveaway, but that you also know.
3. If I win it, I will create something fantastic and amazing that will be published on all the beading and jewellery books all around the world, and I will be interviewed on TV, radio and all important blogs, hummm, I guess you didn't know that, huh? Did You? ;0), although I have to admit that the one about Russian foxes acting like dogs is actually pretty fascinating...
Well, I don't know if this is interesting to anyone but ME...but tomorrow, July 1, is my anniversary! I could make me one great anniversary gift from me to me with this beautiful bead! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou may already know this, but when looking at beads online, it's helpful to sit at least an arm's length away from the computer so that you don't ruin your keyboard when you drool over the lampwork beads...It's an important skill to learn. If you don't have to buy a new keyboard, you have more money for beads!
ReplyDeleteOh yummy! What you don't know? Hummmm.... I'm bored. But that's probably evident, since I'm at work. (Shush, they don't know I blog hop at work!) Thanks for the awesome giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteHow nice that Pascal wants to give a bead away, will also check out their website.
ReplyDeleteHope to win.

How lovely! The bead reminds me of the northern lights. This evening I performed a concert in a Victorian swimming pool - yes, actually IN a swimming pool. No water though and it's a listed building, undergoing heavy renovation. Now, I bet you didn't know that now, did you?! x
ReplyDeleteDid you know that this bead would look great on a "Big Girl", which I happen to be. Melanie
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bead, and the colors are just gorgeous! I could see it wrapped in coiled brass wire.
ReplyDeleteThe sun is just a sliver over the horizon off the coast of , but all its fire is still reflected on the water's surface.
ReplyDeleteI looks a bit like the planet Jupiter, especially in the last picture. You can almost imagine the two bubbles being part of the perpetual hurricane in Jupiter's clouds. Of course, the reddish color might make more akin to Mars. Did you know that Mars is red to iron oxide, and that the largest amount of iron oxide on Mars is actually fine ground hematite? You do now!
ReplyDeleteOK, this bead is just perfect for a July 4th giveaway! Gorgeous, very patriotic, great shape, love the flow pattern... you probably already know that! What you don't know is my dog is in heat and that lasts for about 3 weeks!! I think I deserve this!
ReplyDeleteI just ate my first corn on the cob of the summer, fresh out of a local farmer's field! Not that's something to write home about! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou can tell this bead is a stunner!! Would be perfect by itself or with a multitude of color combinations! Great giveaway - will be checking out Querbeads other beauties!
ReplyDeletei'm having a no good very bad day. if i win this bead, i will be less inclined to self medicate with bead shopping and ice cream. consider picking me for the good of humanity and cranky women everywhere.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks to you both for the generous giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win!
ReplyDeleteDid you know tomorrow is a national holiday in Canada in honor of it's birthday! (Like your 4th of July). Canada will be 144 years old tomorrow.
Cilla
This would be a fantastic focal point for meditation ..........
ReplyDeleteOk, I don't know if you'll find this interesting but I sure do. My daughter has a 20-month old daughter who has an amazing vocabulary. She's quite remarkable! My daughter hasn't let her watch tv (the parents don't really watch tv either) but they do watch Baby Signing Time videos with her. She can sign and say about as many words as a 4 year old (!), and I believe it's the sign language that made the difference. It let her communicate before she was old enough to speak. Then when she could speak it all fell in place. Amazing girl! My daughter is so convinced of the importance of this, she just became a certified Baby Signing Time teacher!
ReplyDeleteAnd I really do want to win that bead! Hope this was interesting enough.
I swallowed a bug today...not on purpose but gross none the less, just sayin'
ReplyDeletesay whatever you want but make it interesting....I am an oldest daughter and I married an oldest son....I'm wondering if that is a good thing or a bad thing. We're going on 17 years so I guess it's ok....
ReplyDeleteI love that bead. It's like a gorgeous sunset or the Northern lights in the dark. So pretty. Would love to be able to use that in something. Will have to check out their shop, too.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful bead!
ReplyDeleteOoh, pretty bead! Something you don't know that's interesting. Well, it was 112 degrees here in Phoenix today but I didn't think it was so bad. Maybe not interesting, but you probably didn't know. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm reading some of the comments posted and having a good laugh. Your readers are seriously funny! Anyway, I'm an international follower so not sure if this giveaway is open to us worldwide fans but am trying all the same :). It goes without saying that the bead is gorgeous. Idk why but it reminds me of a planet - not sure which one, my knowledge of astronomy is abysmal. I had a look at Pascal's Etsy shop and he has some other beads that ALSO remind me of planets and galaxies and such stuff. I think it would be cool to make a necklace with this bead and some others of Pascal's - it would look stunning and have a seriously geeky name like the Milky Way, or something like that LOL. Anywho - I'd love to be the lucky duck who wins this but in the name of good sportsmanship - good luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am currently plotting my escape from my three teenage children who can’t seem to agree on ANYTHING except the fact that they all find each other SOOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!! That bead would look great with my getaway outfit . . . =D
ReplyDeleteMatthias put all my beads and beading supplies in a closet so I'm in desperat need to replace all that stuff:-)
ReplyDeleteThe waves of color in this bead look very much like something you'd see in outer space (or in a Star Trek movie!) which is rather fitting since today (July 1) brings us a partial, yet very powerful, solar eclipse. This eclipse energy should bring about enlightenment and transformation, or in other words - an AHA moment for many of us!
ReplyDeleteThat bead is lovely. It reminds me of fibers all twisted around.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of anything clever to say, so I will just wish you a happy and safe 4th of July!!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to know what glass that is? Beautful
ReplyDeleteOh, hope I can still participate!
ReplyDeleteHm, something interesting ... that you don't know already ...
Did you know that Einstein's brain was stolen at the autopcy (spelling?)? And that it was kept in a Tupperware bowl for many years, sort of just in the back of the thief's house or if it was the trunk of his car. He kept sending small samples of the brain to scientists all over the world for many years, coz he wanted them to help him figure out if Einstein's brain differed in any way from normal brains. To find out why he was a genious. He sent the samples in small Mayonnaise jars. Someone eventually found one thing that was different from most people. Learn more on Stuff to Blow Your Mind.
What don't you know...hmmm, I'm out of coffee...but this bead would wake me up and start my day off well!
ReplyDeleteI was on my phone and didn't see to add something you didn't know.
ReplyDeleteDidi you know that babies have over 300 bones but as adults we have only 206. Tiny bones fuse together by the time we reach 4 or 5 years old :-)
Today's factoid: The greyhound is the second fastest land mammal after the cheetah. Did I win the bead? :)
