Saratoga Beads
Franny is here for the weekend. We didn't want to sit around the house today so we took a road trip out to Saratoga Springs, NY. A full day of shopping and some great Italian food for lunch, and then a pit stop to one of my favorite bead shops in NY state. Saratoga Beads is fairly small but they have a really great selection of things I haven't seen elsewhere. I picked up some Czech strands..
These 2 are also Czech glass, but the colors are so yummy! Earthy tones, that almost appear painted.
They also have such a great selection of German glass, and Czech glass. Of course they are all sold separately so I spent a boat load on these little teensy selections. If anyone knows of a great German glass or Czech glass supplier, please let me know. I'd love to buy more like this buy by the strand.
And then the Greek metal beads are my favorite, and I always have to pick some up while I'm there. Flowers, buttons and a focal. Love em!
When we got home, Franny offered to help me clean out my closet which was a total disaster. It was a huge task to take on. I am so grateful for her help. I probably would never have done it otherwise.

Beads and Babble, I only just recently discovered them and bought some of those earthy Matte beads that look just like what you got. I can't wait to get them and all the other stuff I bought. http://www.etsy.com/shop/beadsandbabble
ReplyDeleteThose German glass beads rock! Glad you're getting a weekend with Franny...and cleaning out that closet ;)
ReplyDeleteIf you are looking for Czech glass - Raven's Journey has an amazing selection. Lenka is originally from the Czech Republic & has great resources. I stock up whenever they are at a local show. (You may have seen them at B & B?) They don't sell off their website & it is not updated, but you could always send an e-mail to Lenka (lenka@theravenstore.com)& see what options you have. She is amazingly sweet & kind. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! I live in Saratoga Springs and Saratoga Beads is within walking distance of my house. And yeah I visit frequently!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love those painted looking Czech beads. And the Greek stuff's great too. Nice score!

ReplyDeleteBuy Lines is a terrific store that deals in only Czech beads. All the people working there are Czech, too. It is across from the Paramount Studio gates. I see that they now have an online presence.

Sorry, I take my previous comment back. It looks like Buy -line sells only to bead stores and has a $700 minimum order. I went there a few years back and purchased retail, so who knows.

P.S. They do have a terrific view of the paramount gates!

I could really spend some cash in a bead store! A wonderful day for you two. Your bead selection is really nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking stuff all of it. I too wish to find that ONE supplier of Czech glass who has a large selection of sizes and shapes. I mean large. All you could dream of, or has ever seen plus a bit more of course. I want to be able to buy both by the strand or even hank, and single beads just in which ever amount.
ReplyDeleteI did believe it would work out so well with my Czech neighbour ... but it didn't unfortunately. So, I am still searching for that dream place. I'll keep coming back here to check out the links given by others.
Glad you had a great day!
The small coin ones in the top picture with three little bumps looks very cute. Never saw them before.
Oh curse you and your yummy bits! Those glass flowers and metal flowers are just ridiculously awesome.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with these. I hereby excuse you from housework, etc., so you can get busy!
ReplyDeleteGosh they all look great, but I especially like that little buckle.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pendants!
ReplyDeleteSummer plans- to play as many outdoor concerts as possible, and to the East Coast- I want to see experience the Outer Banks.
Best Summer food- watermelon! It's a complete food the best summer diet ever! ;)
These colors/styles look so naturally 'you'! I recommend Raven's Journey for Czech and European glass. But I only find them at shows...
