Big Doings

When I read the listing, 23mm didn't mean anything to me. The listing said LARGE. That didn't phase me either. Then they arrived and I screamed out in DELIGHT!! They are enormous and gorgeous and if I could be a BEAD, I would be these. Big, bright, bold, and beautiful. These are from Mindy Moogin. Mindy lives in Scotland. And she has Mad Talent.  I don't know that I can bare to use them. They will stay with me for a long long time.

Big doings here this weekend. I am creating an eCourse. My first one, so you have to be kind and don't criticize it too much. But I am writing a small ebook called Asymmetry Made Easy.  It will be available for sale here on my blog and in my Etsy shop. mmm, probably in a few days.  I'm really stoked. I think people are going to dig it. It will help you conquer your fear of asymmetry and gives some really great tips on thinking outside the box.  I will have a more formal blog post introducing it when it's ready.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. I received a copy of our book yesterday and have been lovingly flipping through it all morning. It's just lovely. Erin, if you're reading... we wrote one damn awesome book girl. CHEERS TO US!

  1. Those beads are gorgeous - I noticed your exchange with Rebecca on FB the other day talking about Moogin beads. I drool over her etsy shop regularly. Her beads truly are stunning!

I will be very interested in your e-course. I find myself often (lovingly) cursing your name when I'm trying to do an asymmetrical necklace and failing, which is about 90% of the time! Can't wait to see what you have to say about it :)

  2. Mindy's beads are just amazing, aren't they? I regularly give in to temptation when she updates her etsy shop! I've got some of her big beads sitting on my workdsk at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours! The ebook sounds interesting too.

  4. I really struggle with asymmetrical designs - I start out with good intentions, but by the time I have finished tweaking and fiddling, I end up with a mostly symmetrical design - always!

  5. Lovely beads... I have issues with sizes when I'm buying things too, they always seem to be tiny or huge. I stick pennies in one photo when I list things even though I've been told that that's tacky... at least it puts you in the ballpark re size!

  6. Um, I put a penny in my listings too so people have some sort of reference.

I LOVE her beads - they are gorgeous!

Congrats on the book, and the e-book!

  7. I love her beads as well~Yumm! I am the proud owner of a lovely orphan set. I have them sitting on my work table just looking at me and sitting pretty. Thinking about a lariat...haven't decided yet. Looking forward to getting my book soon and think the ebook is a fantastic idea! Oh, Boy!

  8. Love those beads - esp the etched ones. I saw on FB you and rebecca (?) got your orders and I'm so hoping mine comes soon too. Love that artist.

I'm super excited about your ebook - totally going to get it. Gonna dip my toe in asymmetry and venture away from my beloved symmetrical patterns lol.

and of course, congrats on the book!

  10. Those numbers don't mean a lot to me either and I measure things quite often. The beads are like a bit of summer sun. Lovely. Can't wait to hear more about your ebook. You are a master of asymmetry!

  11. I love Mindy's beads too. If I hadn't attempted flameworking myself I wouldn't even realize to what extent I should appreciate her talent. She is a stringer master and that is HARD stuff.

  13. Those beads ARE amazing! and yes, I think we did a pretty darn good job on the book! Even my husband, Josh agrees! And I don't take his compliment lightly!!! Not only does he think the designs are creative, but he thinks we did an excellent job covering all aspects of the subject matter into a comprehensive guide. I can not wait for everyone to see it! Also, I'm looking forward to your e-course! I can tell already it will be a super hit!

  14. Yum! They are absolutely gorgeous. My favourite of yours is the far left one - I love that flower design! Mindy's beads are definitely hoard-worthy. I'm looking forward to your ebook already, I usually make asymmetrical designs, but in a very different way from you (in that I tend to make a bead soup and then be random with that!) so I will be interested to read your thoughts on the matter.

  15. Yes those beads are gorgeous. I just ordered your ebook. I hardly ever design in a symmetrical pattern but there is so much more to learn from your designs. You have an amazing eye for unique beads as well. I pre-ordered your book months ago and have been excited to get new ideas on how to incorporate fibers besides ribbon. Thanks for the inspiration.
