Getting back to Normal

I am slowly getting back to normal after a week away from the studio and the whole blog issues... I liked that funky template but some people couldn't see it. I hate the idea that long time followers would come and not see posts or dislike the changes. Here we are at a more traditional template but this has got me thinking about Blogger. I fought with it all morning. It doesn't work in Firefox. And is still glitchy in Safari.  SO I am researching other venues such as wordpress... and typepad.
Maybe I could actually get that "lorelei" feel to my blog for once. I've never really felt attached to the blog designs I've had. Ahh well. It's Sunday and this should not consume my whole day so I am heading up to the studio to play around with beads.  I suppose I should clean my house later. The floors are pretty disgusting, and the bathrooms are bad too. I'd be in big trouble if someone decided to "drop by" unexpectedly. That never happens but you never know.

  1. I like the traditional layout better. The picture layout wasn't bad but it was slow to load.

    Have fun in your studio.

  2. Hi Lorelei. I'm not sure if you're referring to your end regarding Firefox and updating or not, but I have no issues viewing your blog in Firefox. The layout you had the other day took a little bit to get used to until I could figure out how to navigate. For me, it was o.k., but I prefer a traditional blog format. It's just more straightforward.

  3. I like this Lori! Yes, I've been moving my website to Wordpress for a couple of weeks now - lots of wait time waiting for Godaddy to transfer my domain to the new host. Anyway, I'll think about blogs then after I see how I like Wordpress but I'm liking the options that aren't available through Blogger.

And I'm with you on the house, too. Ours is overdue for a thorough spring cleaning. Enjoy your Sunday!

  4. Happy Sunday, I am cleaning first and beads later. Your blog is still good, no matter the format. Had no problems with Safari.

  5. Your jewelry is gorgeous and your photography skills are excellent ... it is that, along with your words and the showcasing of other's beads and components that gives your blog that "lorelei" feel ... not a blogging template. I know I'm in the minority, but I loved that last template for it's full page of eye candy! That said, I love this one too. Common denominator? You! Just saying ... =)

  6. Yay I can read your blog again!! Have not been able to see any of your posts for the past couple of days and was starting to get withdrawal symptoms lol!!

  7. I could see your pics, and it was cool cause it looked a bit like Pinterest, but I couldn't read any of the posts for some reason in firefox or regular google stuff. Blogger's been giving me trouble lately too when I'm trying to write posts - it just pauses as I'm typing and it's taking for-EVER. very frustrating. Hope you find a good solution and one that you feel fits you and that your love!

  8. Cute necklace :) Let us know what you find about blogs. I have been with blogger for a long time (with a different blog than I am with now) but lately I've been noticing more problems...

  9. I don't have any advice about the blogger platforms (i've only used blogger), but I do love those beads in that necklace. Very cool piece!

  12. Lorelei,
I love this blog header! In fact i think it might be my favorite so far. I'm with you on the house cleaning. There are so many things that are more fun than cleaning, but I do worry about people dropping by. Maybe I should conger up some excuse just in case.

  13. I'm on the free WordPress.com, but I've heard it is not too difficult to switch over to the self-hosted form. I really like WordPress and you can include e-commerce on the self-hosted WordPress.

  14. I think this new blog header is very representative of your jewelry, your brand, you. I like the simple layout. I use Safari and have noticed many issues lately with blogger. In fact, I got so frustrated trying to post something a couple weeks ago, that I gave up on my blog for a while. That and some other reasons, but I had so much trouble with the layout particularly when it came to laying out photos. Good luck on finding just the right combination of everything!

  15. That's a beautiful necklace.
My house is in a similar mess. We rarely have unexpected visitors but I was mortified the other day when a couple of neighbours called to talk about some local issues and I could see their eyes wandering over every dusty surface and the pile of washing up. As you say, you never know when that doorbell might ring.

  16. I must say, I absolutely loved the lacy one you had prior to your trip to Florida. I was v jealous you had found it first! I tried Wordpress for a bit but I am just not computer savvy enough to figure it out. It seemed a massive effort. ANd I hate that google have now made google friend connect exclusive to blogger. It's a bit contrary to the name....friend connect....but only if you're in the google gang...! If I could figure out computers, I would go over to Wordpress again. But life it too short for me - my work doesn't require me to do more than word and email so I don't! Good luck with your blog endeavours....I'll definitely still be reading no matter what format you show up in!

  17. I like this format and the most recent one too. I use Wordpress and am really happy with it. I had some help with the initial set-up but find Wordpress to be very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Good luck.

  18. Hi Lorelei, I've heard wordpress is good but I've only used blogger. I, like most of the above comments, like the old style, more comforting and traditional and shows off your beautiful jewellery to it's best effect. Cleaning? I need to do a lot of that too! Don't stress, life goes on! Enjoy.
