Daily Drizzle

I lost my mind.  For some reason I went through a short period of hysteria thinking I needed 4 strands of these urchin sticks.  I love em but I don't need that many. Check back tomorrow-  I have a strand of these, and some horn beads I'll be giving away in a flash giveaway.

Here are some pieces I made last night using some sticks. Earrings, wire wrapped with buri seeds and Czech glass rounds (small, you can barely see em) I was playing around with the idea of doing some dangle earrings using some chain and wire wrapping many sticks to the chain but they got to be big and cumbersome so I used that urchin tassel on the necklace below.

Love how this necklace turned out. It's a long 25" inch necklace, with dyed buri seeds in purple and peach. Both colors are prominent in the urchin sticks.  I added in some lampwork glass that is the perfect accompaniment to these beads. The focal is an etched stone from Lilly Pilly Designs.

And just for fun, here is a pic of Marley. She has this habit of finding me anytime I sit down for more than 2 minutes. This pic was taken yesterday when I was sitting on the couch opening the daily mail after work. She made herself comfy and got totally pissed when I wanted to get up. BRAT.

  1. Gorgeous necklace! Love the muted colors. I have yet to get some urchin sticks for myself - they are elusive, aren't they usually?

  3. Wow love the colors on those sticks. Looks like a little slice of sunset.

I love when my cats insist on sitting on what I'm reading - why do they find paper so comfy, I wonder?

  4. Those sticks are wonderful and I can see why you would get several strands.

I love the piece you made with these--the colors are fabulous and perfect for summer. Those buri seed beads are so pretty!

Sometimes I want to lay down when I open the mail too...it's so exhausting and frustrating with all the bills and junk mail. It's nice that you had a companion to help.

  5. Don't you wish the companion PAID the bills! That would be a really amazing cat.

I don't usually sign up for giveaways, but those urchin sticks are really tempting! And I have SO MUCH beachy stuff in my stash, those would add some neat color and texture. I wonder what I could do with them?

  10. Maybe you should have a contest to name that "short period of hysteria" that makes us purchase multiple strands of what started out as a good idea and turned into an embarrassingly weak moment! Or maybe I just need a 12-step group where I can go and confess my sins. If I had good sense, I would call myself a "vendor" and get rid of some of this stuff!

It helps to know others are afflicted, too. Perhaps it's your calling to decorate the world with urchin sticks?

  11. LOL...I've experience the same hysteria when purchasing pearls. I love pearls and all, but I was a bit out of control when I purchased 12 strands of off white pearls. Hope your overstock finds a good home.
    Cheers!

  14. Love the small urchin sticks--I bought a couple of large ones last year but they are HUGE and I've never done anything with them. Smaller seems much easier to work with.
