What's cool is when you open the app on your phone, you can scroll down through the photos of the people that you follow. So if I take a new photo, and post it in instagram, you'll see it when you scroll down through. This is a fun way to keep up with your favorite people. Not that I'm your favorite  ;) - but it's just another way to stay connected.
