Wire wrapping briolettes
Have to warn ya. I used a different camera for this video and it's not so good. Kept going in and out of focus. but you can still get the general idea of how to do this, I hope.
Someone commented that they wanted to see how to wire-wrap briolettes. This is just how I do it. I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it. I just wanted to show you what I do.
Sometimes it can be tricky if you are using really small gauge wire. I used 22 gauge in my video. The briolettes I used weren't really tiny semi-precious stones. They are just jade.
Hope it helps! Happy Thursday!

Very helpful, thanks! I like how you don't wrap the first shorter tail around the bottom before doing the loop with the longer tail. It is less bulky to simply bend it up and keep it straight with the longer tail. That makes sense!
ReplyDeleteGood one! I sometimes stick my round nose plier in to the loop to hold the wire when I wrap back down the stem.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kathy! Your way makes way better sense than the way I learned it & looks nicer too! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteAhh, you make it look so easy. But I've been wrapping that short wire around first which really makes a mess for me. I like your way better. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this Lorelei!
ReplyDeleteYou make it look so easy :) Do you think you might be able to do a tut on how to link wire wrapped beads together? i.e. a bead that has wrapped loops on each side but connected to each other by wire-wrapped loops? I can never figure out how to do that without totally mangling the loop and wrap on the one side that I'm using to attach to the next link. Hope that made sense!
ReplyDeleteI will have to try this tonight.. But you do make it look very easy!
ReplyDeleteCool. I always have trouble with these. I thought it was pronounced: Brio-let, though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tut!
You make it look so easy! I waste so much wire by either not putting on enough to start with thus not having enough wire to make it all the way down to the bead, or having too much and have to snip off not quite enough to wrap another. What kind of wire were you using?
ReplyDeleteI was just using some 22 gauge wire- it has a gunmetal color. I think I got it at Michael's craft store. it's nothing fancy.
ReplyDeleteI was one of the ones who asked for this tip. Thank you SO much Lorelei!! Just as others have mentioned, I have been wrapping my shorter wire before making the loop, instead of keeping a little straight tail. It never looked right. It is so helpful to see how you did this, and so validating to read the other comments. Thanks all!
ReplyDeleteANother really cool video - thank yoU! You do this so differently from me, I will definitely try your way with bigger briolettes, it makes sense. Thanks Lorelei!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for a great tutorial. I have often admired this kind of wrapping but never managed a neat enough result, so I will try it your way.
ReplyDeleteI also recently purchased your book from Amazon, in fact it plopped through my letterbox yesterday and it looks scrumptious - I am looking forward to a proper read of it this weekend.
Thank you thank you for this! LOVE the disc/button one--so easy! It looks fabulous. Can't wait to try!!
