Hump Day

Here is a sneak peek at some things landing in my shop tomorrow (update is at 7pm!) Some chunky lucite pieces, because I was just feelin it. And because I got a bunch of new beads in the mail from Reduction Nation yesterday.

Love how these both turned out. The one above features a sweet sleeping fox from Tree Wings Studio. The one below features lampwork glass from Moogin Beads, and Magdalena Ruiz, and an enamel bead from Barbara Lewis.

This last necklace features one of my new handmade tin pendants. On one side I used floral brass sheeting and colored it with some Gilder's paste. My first time using it. I sealed it with Renaissance wax (2 coats) so that the color will stay. It's the most gorgeous color every. Pictures don't do it justice! I like that gilder's paste. It's cool. Problem is, I  bought 2 tins (1 large and 1 small) of the same Patina color. If anyone wants to buy the smaller tin from me, let me know. It was $8.

On the other side, I used the blue and white floral tin. The necklace design I kept pretty simple just because I wanted the focal to be the attention-getter.  So I beaded it asymmetrically with gold glass rounds, and brass tube beads/seed beads. The toggle is a new clasp from TheaToo.

  4. Hi Lori,
Your piece looks great with the gilders paste – I really like that stuff – think I have every color!
Just wanted to tell you that in a Brenda Schweder class a few years ago, we were told to not use Renaissance wax over gilders paste. You really don’t need to cover it with anything as it will not come off. The manufacturer recommends using acrylic or lacquer, e.g. Krylon for protection (suggested for outdoor metals). So for my metal/resin pieces I don’t use any coating. If I need to I’d probably use Clear Guard. (I’ve even used the paste outside on my lamp post and never coated it.)
    Have a great day.
