Day 10 and 11

Yesterday got away from me! So I didn't end up blogging at all- figured I would cover 2 days in one, today.  Let me update you on the diet.
Today is day 3, right?  Day 1 was was tough but I got through it, eating nothing but beans, veggies and some corn tortillas. Day 2 I cheated twice. For breakfast I had cold granola cereal with flax, oatmeal and strawberries.  Pretty good actually. It's the Archer Farms brand from Target.  There is just no way I could handle the oatmeal another day.  For lunch, I had these tuna salad wraps. They were SO GOOD!  Can of tuna, with a small tablespoon of mayo, TB of lemon juice, TB of capers, 2 stalks of chopped celery and some purple onion. I wrapped them in some boston lettuce. Delish!

For dinner last night we had these eggplant roll ups but instead of rolling them we piled the filling on top of each with another slice of eggplant on top, and sauce, and moz cheese.  (which is totally not allowed but joe couldn't find the non-dairy cheese they were calling for for this recipe.  The filling was onion, red pepper, carrots, sauteed with some sauce and mixed with cheese. We used a spaghetti sauce that had no salt. It wasn't too bad. Totally edible.  But then I got sick about 8pm. Like really sick.  Not throwing up sick but the other kind of sick. That's not a good sign. So maybe my body is cleansing itself with all this non-meat, non-fat food? I don't know. But I'm hoping I got it all out of my system. I did announce on my way out of the bathroom that I was NO LONGER DIETING. And he was okay with that. But now I feel guilty. Like I shouldn't let a little diarrhea stop me. I'm such a wuss.

On to the gifts, shall we?

Day 10 Group 1 I received this sweet copper toggle from Cheri Reed. I am always in need of a great artisan made toggle so I know this will come in quite handy in the near future!! I am seeing some of the other clasps she sent out and she really is a talented gal! Check out her blog!

Group 2, I received some great gifts from Rita of Toltec Jewels. She sent along  some sweet little Mexican ornaments, a handmade beaded snowflake ornament, and a Ceaseless Light candle - all sandwiched in between some festive pot holders! Thank you Rita!

Day 11 I opened up an awesome hand-quilted notebook with button clasp from Suzanne Reynolds of Studio Bibelots. It's got the most gorgeous colors in it! What a great gift, a pretty little notebook to jot down thoughts in, that will fit right in my purse!  Very clever!!!  Thank you so much!! I love it!

I also opened Francesca Watson's gift this morning and it's this awesome Swirly enameled focal! the colors are amazing!! Two holes on one side, and one on the other, with a slight curve, makes me think this will make one fantastic bracelet focal and I can't wait to play around with this!!

  1. Lori, the d-word is from eating lots more fiber than your body is used to. If you were to continue like this, your body would eventually adjust -- it would take a month or two. I've already weighed in on the crash diet thing, so I'll shut up about that. Push fruits & veggies, watch portions, have only 1 "fattening" thing a day (at most) and you'll lose, but you'll lose slowly.

  2. Wow, what great gifts you received!!! I love Francesca's focal!!!!

Dieting is never easy, and I admire you for even trying. Even if you do just one thing a day to become more healthy, give yourself a big pat on the back. And don't beat yourself up if you cheat.

  3. I can totally relate to the dieting thing - I am not good at it either and I hate it! I also do not like working out even though my company has a wonderful (and cheap) fitness center 5 floors down from me. I know I need to make changes, but it is hard.

  4. I offer up these thoughts. Make sure whatever you are eating you can really do that forever. Don't think diet but lifestyle change. Did the sauce have sugar in it? Look for some without. Also moderation. It is better to eat a little of the real thing rather than a lot of the "looks like" fake stuff. Eat a little cheese rather than that non-dairy stuff. I believe that eating that fake stuff you body doesn't know what to do with it. Don't get me started on that turkey bacon stuff ... do you know how they make that? Anyway you can do it. Think not diet but lifestyle change. Portion control and watch the added sugars in all processed foods. Have a good day.

  5. Kolby is right-on. It's an eating life style change, not a'diet'. Yup, your bod was purging the toxins. People always say, gee, I'm on this diet and now getting sick! Not true, you are releasing toxin build-up. Some even start to get headaches. But keep going and you will truly start feeling like a million with loads of energy. It may take a few more days but once you've stop eating processed, sugary, salty food and keep eating "clean" food, you will notice the difference.
I'm getting ready to start doing this myself (sugar is my vice). We need a bead-eaters group!!

  7. I would have to say the eggplant was perhaps a little too much for you or do you normally eat eggplant? It usually does a number on me, so I will be skipping that altogether. The tuna wraps look delicious and I will certainly make those. I went on the net today to look up recipes for beans and legumes to hopefully give me some ideas. I will be shopping this weekend to start up this 7 day crash regimen (notice I didn't use the D-word). Love that handmade toggle...thanks for the link, I will definitely check out her blog! Have a good day today!!

  8. That enamel piece rocks! And diets ... ugh. I say start in small increments you can live with, like reducing the portion size of what you like to eat. Anything with the word "cleanse" in it just wreaks havoc on my system!

Hey there! I realize this is somewhat off-topic but I needed to ask.

Does operating a well-established blog such as yours take a
lot of work? I am brand new to operating a blog however I do write in
my diary every day. I'd like to start a blog so I will be able to share my own experience and feelings online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!
