Focus on Life: Week Three Take Time for Yourself
It's the third week for Focus on Life photo challenge. The goal this week was to photograph something that shows me taking some time for myself- not feeling guilty about it. Although this sounds totally lame, my goal this year, as mentioned in my post for week 1, is to organize. But the problem in the past has been that I don't ever really want to take the time to do it.
This week I kept cringing when looking around the office. There was leftover mess from my summer craft shows, jewelry was lying EVERYWHERE making it difficult to find anything, and I had all this extra furniture in my office that was causing it to be cramped and messy. So I just started. Jumped in and took a few hours by myself not worrying about work, creating, listing, or planning dinner.
I started utilizing the peg board that I have on my wall when my office was once my studio. Might as well use the damn thing, since I have no plans on taking it off the wall! So I pulled out all the s-hooks and started hanging all the jewelry up on it. Organized the earrings, onto this separate hanging apparatus.
Then I took out the old packing table because it was way too small, and brought in one of my 6-footers and organized my shipping table again. It was a nice activity and the room is not done yet, I have more to work on next week but it's come a long way in just a few days!!

It will be so nice to have everything I need all in one place!! Jewelry, mailers, boxes, tape, business cards, pens, rubber stamps, cording, bags!

Looks great good L! Great use of the peg board. I had a freak out in my space this week too. I spent several hours cleaning it up. It was bad.
ReplyDeleteI think organizing can be very "recharging" since it makes me so virtuous and makes the space I fix up usable again. What can be better than that! The peg board makes a great way to hang up your jewelry. Your space is looking great.
ReplyDeletewhat a treasure trove!! everything has its place and looks just gorgeous :)
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by :)
re. paint - i bought cheap, but branded, paint on ebay - a daley rowney introduction set, and a primary set of winsor&newton. i figure when i get better, i'll invest in golden and liquitex... we'll see :)
have a great week!
I so need to organize, looks great! Love the washi tape, do you have a favorite source?
ReplyDeleteThat was a really important thing you could do for yourself! Good way to use your me time, and feel good about it! The shipping table is really well organized. Cool!
ReplyDeleteOh boy...this is a great reminder for me to do the same...but I have that affliction of being unable to KEEP it organized once I have organized...I love the usage of the peg board...great idea! And those wire baskets are perfect for holding your mailing and packaging materials! You've motivated me to try, try again!! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLove how you took the time to do this for yourself. And, it looks like organization heaven - I'd love to come and play with all your linen in that drawer! Yummy!!
ReplyDeleteIt's very trouble-free to find out any matter on net as compared to books, as I found this paragraph at this website.

This activity is a two-fer - organized and inspred by your lovely creations all at the same time! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, but I have not yet seen a photo of your studio that does not look great.. :)It does tell me that I need to get off my but and get busy cleaning up my area.. :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh, it looks wonderful! I'll bet it was a great feeling to get this done. My problem is IF I actually get things organized (snort) it gets messed up the first time I sit down to bead.
ReplyDeleteNICE! I soooooo need to do that at my place! Love the idea of a peg board - very crafty of you :) btw, where do you get your boxes? I'm always on the hunt for boxes and would love to use natural paper v the ones I have that have a black shiny finish.
ReplyDeleteOh great thinking! This will be the gift to yourself that keeps on giving. Streamlined time you'll have extra moments a plenty
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to do for yourself. I also dislike taking time from my creativity to get organized without feeling guilty.
ReplyDeleteLooking good Lorelei - I've just done the same thing and it's such a great feeling once everything is organised. Beats me then why I'm incapable of keeping it that way!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we are on the same mission this week! You seem to have accomplished a lot and everything looks beautifully organized. My main issue is finding room for all of my beads (yes, I have a bit of a bead addiction)!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful! A reminder that I must move my photo and wrapping station into the room vacated by my son.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks GREAT!!! If you can't find space for all the beads you have I will gladly adopt them! :)
ReplyDeleteYour room looks wonderful..all those necklaces hanging there..and those great wire baskets! You are working on your word, too! Love all those yummy tapes, too.

Best thing about this type of me time is how you feel when you're done!
ReplyDeleteGood for you. Your space looks awesome! That was a great way to take time. I bet you feel great about what you accomplished.
ReplyDeleteOh good for you! It has to feel so good to get the wheels in motion. I love your necklaces all hanging there. And the drawer of cord looks very enticing. Love all the color:)
ReplyDeleteI do love the look of all the jewelry hanging on the board. I know organizing can be a chore but it feels so good when it's done!
ReplyDeleteOrganizing a space always feels wonderful doesn't it! Great job!
ReplyDelete(I'm #40 this week)
Organizing my life and all the clutter in it was on my to do list for 2012 and it never got done so it is once again on my list for 2013. It does make working in a space so much more enjoyable. I really like your metal baskets and the jewelry hanging above is such nice eye candy to work by!
ReplyDeleteHi Lorelei,
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when everything is organized and in it's own space. I love the idea of the peg board and need one in my work space badly, so I am going to take that idea for me, ok. Have fun with the rest of your organizing.
Therese
I love your room and I love how you used the peg board to show off your necklaces! Love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteLorelei you are doing a great job of organizing. That is something I need to work on.
ReplyDeleteOh how I would LOVE to be that organized! Your photos look like they're straight out of an issue of Real Simple magazine! Thanks for the organizational inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove that the colours of your washi tape are the same colours as your linen cord and as your jewellery....cohesive throughout! All looks fab.
ReplyDeleteLorelei you inspire me to get a bit more organized but I can tell right off the bat that I have a lot of work ahead of me. Your are miles ahead of me. Thanks for sharing.

It's nice that your taking time for yourself involved getting some organizing done. It's very freeing, isn't it? Your necklaces look great on the peg board and your shipping station is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, and productive, interpretation! And I love your organization! I'm currently on my way to having a new studio/office space, and I'm almost overwhelmed with the possibilities! Thanks for these ideas!
ReplyDeleteYou reminded me I stopped tidying up my studio. I got way laid by health issues and so need to take that time to put away my Christmas fabrics and give myself some space to create again. Thanks. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great and well organized! I go crazy the last week of each year and clean the entire house...lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to take time for yourself! I have to do something. My pack rat tendencies are overwhelming at the moment. I have a lofty goal of pulling everything out of the studio and rearranging it and putting it all away! After I get past the sales tax due this week, I plan to do just that. Thanks for the inspiration! I especially like that the packing supplies are so artfully arranged! That would make it a joy to do a task that seems so uninspiring on most days! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I had the kind of space to make a shipping area. I'm coveting yours so hard right now. I know that deep desire to be organized, I feel it daily. And, I know that sigh of relief when it's all put away and you can see the tops of surfaces. It's freeing almost. I'm not sure my craft room will ever have that feel, but I can dream. Thanks for adding to that dream with such gorgeous organization. . .I may actually pin this for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteNothing more satisfying then getting all cleaned up and organized
ReplyDeleteLove you washi tape collection. Where do you buy your washi tape?
