Link Up for the Michael's Beading Challenge

Here are the beads that everyone is starting with for this current Michael's Beading challenge.  I fell in love with the brown, white and Royal Blue color palette and mixed in some green well, cuz it's awesome.

My first is a bracelet. I strung beads on 3 strands of waxed linen cording, making bunches of beads in between the blue and white ceramic rounds, for some added texture! I created a button loop with some cool tubing from MyElements and added a Diane Hawkey Faith bead as the button.

The second piece I made is a necklace with one of Jeani Christen's wingspread owls. I used regular beading wire, strung the beads in a symmetrical pattern and finished the clasp with the owl button layered on top of a ceramic disc from Round Rabbit Extra.

For the second bracelet, I strung the white nuggets on linen cording using the owl button this time as the focal of this piece.  Finished it off with a Saki Silver bronze toggle clasp.

  2. Those are fabulous. I love all of them, but especially the necklace. You made all of those beads work somwell together. I had wanted to make a stranded bracelet with the white beads, but couldn't quite make it work. Yours is perfect.

  3. As always, you designs amaze and delight me. I kept thinking W.W.L.D. (what would Lorelei do?) as I was pondering over these beads and kept coming back with nada. . . I especially admire he way you stacked the brown beads between the green ones in the necklace. It adds so much texture. Fabulous job as always.

  4. Tubing! That is a brilliant idea! In fact, I have a stash of colorful tubing for memory wire bracelets that is just lying around here someplace. I love that idea! That necklace is da bomb! That owl is fab. Thank you for this challenge. I love to see what people do with the same products. It is exciting to see what can be done! Now I am off to procrastinate for my Challenge of Travel due on Saturday ;-) Enjoy the day, Miss Lorelei! Erin

  12. Great job Lorelei! You were the first beading blog that I ever followed and I read you first every morning. You have inspired me several times. I always admire your pieces. The necklace is my favorite. I just bought some of that tubing that you used in the first bracelet in light blue so I am glad to see it used as you did. Now I have another idea. I tried using cord in my owl necklace but, I wasn't able to make it look like you do. Thanx for putting on this fun challenge.
