Wordy Wednesday

Hello!!

Just checking in to let you know what I've been working on this week! Monday, I was a little under the weather with the darned heart palpitations....so I did not get into the studio at all that day, but I did film a new episode of my podcast, Knits & Beads.  You can find that up at my YouTube channel. Yesterday, to make up for it, I did create a bunch of new things for the shops. A nice successful day in the studio if I say so myself.

Definitely one of my favorite necklaces to date! My favorite color, this beautiful teal green color is portrayed throughout this mixed media piece. I dug deep into the bead stash and found this face charm from Spirited Earth. It's precious and works so nicely with Diane Hawkey's Serenity bead. I brought in copper elements, a nice pairing with all the green.  This one is available in my Etsy shop.

SOLD- Double stranded glass beaded bracelet features one of my riveted tin toggles with a bird on it. Yep, I'm still "puttin a bird on it". I dont think this phase will ever end.

SOLD- A multi strand, seaded Bracelet featuring some gorgeous coordinating Gaea ceramic beads. I love how this one turned out and will be a bit sad to see it fly to its new home!

Another favorite, this multi strand seed beaded bracelet in dark navy blue, features one of Round Rabbit's porcelain double sided bezel beads, in which I inserted a handstamped silver nickel disc that reads FEAR LESS. I just love these little foxy buttons. This is available in my Etsy shop.

SOLD- A mixed media bracelet with one of the Diane Hawkey bug beads I bought in the Ceramic Bead group on Facebook last week. I paired it with some various lampwork glass, and added some seed beaded dangles for extra movement.

This week, I have also been working on my Pineland Vest! I decided to try a vest for one of my first garments, because I thought it would give me great practice reading longer more complicated patterns, and I chose a worsted weight pattern, so that it wouldn't take days to knit, like my previous fingering weight projects.  It is coming right along! I am so impressed with Elisabeth Smith's pattern, it is very well-written and easy to understand even for this beginner!

There were a few spots where I had to read through the instructions a few times before I really got it, like when I had to put some stitches onto waste yarn and then continue knitting. I wasn't sure if I did that right but I powered through it.
I'd say I might be able to finish this by the weekend if I work diligently on it all this week. I am also working on a sweet little shawlette pattern as a knit-a-long with a new podcasting friend, Abby, of Long Ride Home. *youtube.

Check back later this week. I was able to think of a few other great topics for the blog for this week. I definitely want to try to get back to regular blogging. That's my hope anyway.
I'm not really sure if anyone is even still reading it regularly.

Happy Crafting.
Lorelei

  1. Absolutely stunning art!! I love the cest. you have came along way in it since your podcast.. I hope your feeling better and not just trying to do too much. Thank you for the small chats we have. If I didn't have you to chat with on and off through out the weeks. I would be a complete mess. Looking forward to seeing what you make next.

  4. Hi Lorelei, I read your blog when you have posts, but I don't leave comments. I know I should, because then the blogger knows we're out there reading (I get very few comments on my blog). Just wanted to let you know I am someone still reading your blog!!
Your jewelry, as always, is stunning and so clever!

  5. *puts hand up* Still here! Love those bracelets. The round rabbit foxy one is my favourite I think. I am trying my best to get back to more regular blogging too, but I do tend to get rather wordy and those posts take an age to write so I'm trying to put in more short and sweet ones! Blogs feel so much more meaningful, as a reader and a writer, than Facebook.
