Office Re-Do /Spring Clean

I didn't take any before pictures of my office.  I'll describe it to you.
I had a dresser along the left wall that was absolutely overflowing with craft supplies, paper, and inks.  The top of the dresser held my printer, and vintage printers drawer that displayed my rubber stamps, and a tall square shelving unit full with nothing aesthetic or useful.
The right wall has my computer desk- iMac, a metal 2 tiered shelf, and then the small wall between the two doors of the room was a white 2 shelf cabinet and in top, my machinist toolbox filled with my pens and inks and other bits and bobs.
Last year I moved a table upstairs into my studio with hopes of moving all paper crafting supplies up there. But I only ended up moving about half of it. I don't know why, I guess I just petered out.  The Tim Holtz stuff is up there along with all my scrapbook paper, Sidekick, dies, clear stamps along with a rolling cart of stuff.
Sometimes the only way to really clean a room is to rearrange the room. I had been thinking about this task for weeks now. Sunday afternoon I do e head first into the project.
My inspiration comes from an Instagram account called Um.Stationery.
I love this space! And it's no wonder why because back when I did craft shows I used a lot of vintage wood crates and wood drawer systems, wood shelves. So I knew I had a lot of stuff like this - I just had to go around the house and find it all.

The room is not don't butits coming along. I figured it was good blog content so I'll share it in pieces.

I decided to get the most out of this desk space and put my computer on different desk on the opposite side of the room. And I tucked the printer in the corner on top of my wood filing cabinet.
All my wood stamps got put into that tall drawer system at the end of the desk.
I thought about getting rid of the dresser but it sues come in useful at hiding all the stuff.
I cleaned out every drawer and weeded out the crap I'm not using.  Win- win!
Next thing I want to do it clean out some of the scrapbook paper and create a space for it somewhere in this space.
What did you do this weekend? Is there anything better than a big re-org project!?
I also filmed and published a Currently Inked video on Youtube.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I love seeing a studio glimpse, especially if there is organization tips or pictures. It's always inspiring. I'm always in the midst of organizing.

    1. I love seeing how people organize their stuff too. I love to have everything in its place. Having said that though- I tend not to use things if I don't see them so getting my stuff viewable is part of the problem.

  2. I'm right there with you! Your space is looking great. I started a big re-org last week on my 'creative room' which houses quilting stuff, garment making items, dress form, 3 machines, my beading stuff, mohair bear and critter making stuff, and lots of wool for making all kinds of projects.
-- It's been a major major project! It started when I decided I wanted an 'ironing station' made from a re-purposed side table/buffet - the likes of that I've seen so many times on Pinterest. I found one that was the perfect fit on FB marketplace, and at a reasonable price. I pulled everything out of the room except for the bigger pieces of cabinetry, tables/shelving units so I could rearrange to get the buffet in.
-- But, OMG! I guess I didn't realize quite how much stuff I had crammed in the room - some of it is going to have to go, I like the way it is with most of the stuff out, it seems so much more calm/pleasant in there now. I have gone through half of the stuff and weeded out what I don't need/use anymore, this takes way more time than I want to devote but it has to be done; hopefully I'll be through with it all by the weekend.

    1. You and I have a lot in common in terms of hobbies!
So far I have cleaned out 2 boxes worth of stuff to donate.
