Craft show, Day Two

The second day started out quite slow, and didn't seem to pick up until about 2pm! I had my sister there in the morning til 12 and then she took off to head back home. I enjoyed people watching, and made 2 new friends, Kristen- whose booth was on the left, and Kandace on the right. Kristen created the coolest hair accessories, and leather belts that have cool ribbon ties that are interchangeable. Kandace is a super talented young college student potter- her pottery was gorgeous!  I think I talked Kandace into creating some ceramic pendants for a bit of a collaboration. And Kristen and I are going to get together to have coffee, and talk about another little collaboration with silk necklaces that have interchangeable charms on them. How fun is that!?

Here is a video shot of my entire set up- hoping you can get a better idea of how I displayed everything. The lead glass window is always a huge hit- especially with the women's husbands that stop by the booth. ;) Everyone really enjoyed my rustic props, and I'm glad I went with this theme. Also got nice comments about being the only table that was raised up higher! Thank goodness Joe finally cut those PVC pipes for me!

Also wanted to give you an idea of what sold and what didn't, so I created these photo collages. The first one, is items that sold. Colorful pieces, whimsical in design- and many different price ranges.

The second one is pieces that did not sell that you'll end up seeing popping back up in Etsy/and Big Cartel.

Overall the show was great. I did almost as well as I did last year, which really shocked me since it was such a slow start. At any rate, it was a fun time, and I look forward to doing it again next year if they do it again!

  1. Love the video. Wonderful set up. Glad you sold well on Sunday. Very interesting to see what did and did not sell. I can't really see any trend. Thanks for all the great pics.

  3. Great setup, thanks for sharing your ideas for our inspiration. Question for you: I really like the way you packaged the Harbinger pendant necklaces (cardstock w/ cellophane), but do you think it deterred customers from buying b/c they couldn't "handle" the piece as easily? I'm contemplating doing something similar w/ pendant-on-chain necklaces for my open house that's coming up, and I'd really value your insight. Thanks!

  4. Love, love, love your display. Your jewelry is beautiful! I also sell in fairs in Puerto Rico and understand what you went thru during the weekend. I usually start comparing to previous years too and it usually evens out at the end. Here I can use only one table 6ft by 3ft. It's a challenge and I have to practice the display at home before every fair. Good luck in your future sells. You are a great artist.

  5. Great table display. I love what you did with the timecard piece and I always love that grey bench.

Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. Great birthday present for me!

  6. Forgot to add .... I have seen, at least with my jewelry that bracelets do not sell as well as necklaces and earrings.

  7. Thanks for the information Lorelei. I especially like how you compared things that sell to things that did not, I see a little more color in the first collection but that is about it.

  8. I am so glad you ended up doing well. I was a bit worried when I read yesterday's entry. I thought, "well, if someone as good as you has trouble, I will really have trouble. You did wonderfully! I love your whimsical items, but I love the others, too. Interesting that those are the items that sold.

    Big congratulations!!!

  14. Beautiful work! I LOVE the owl bags and cards! So sweet! I think with the economy the way it is, people are taking a wait and see approach for holiday buying. I have a feeling it will pick up in the coming weeks! Lovely work and table display!

  16. Thanks for sharing Lorelei! Your booth was adorable! I haven't done any shows since I've been back in business, but I did them years ago and coming up with a creative booth is so hard! You are so kind to share your ideas with those of us that are challenged in that department! :-)

  19. Sunday morning - when the best interaction with fellow artists happens. So slow - the customers are all at church. Standard weekend show scenario. Loved the photo collages.
