I will be picking a random winner tomorrow morning at 8am. Good luck!!
be creative in your comments please. I get bored of reading how cool the beads are in every comment. tell me something I don't know! ;)
Pick me! Sorry ony my phone and may have posted twice. You may not know that my daughter and I both have the same crooked pinky toe. Yup, her Dr laughed at it when she was born.
ReplyDeleteLet me think... What I like about all these art beads and artists is their range of materials. These are earthenware, it looks like. I have thrown pots in earthenware and terra cotta. I have not tried porcelain, but I would love to try. Also, the range of glazes is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a giveaway, Lori!

Well, I'm one of the speed readers - I skim through things. I saw this on Facebook and then went to my blogs. Didn't see the comment about saying something than how cool the beads are - I had already made my comment. I did go to etsy to check out her other beads and it appears that she lives in OH same as me - I love it when I find someone that lives in the same state that I do and I just want to go visit and hang out and see how they do all these great things - I would love to come hang out in your studio an watch you work but you are so far away. I love gemstone beads but I am finding that I am becoming partial to the ceramic beads and I think it is the organic look that they have. Sorry for the first comment - I still hope I win.
ReplyDeleteoh, I've loved her beads for a long time! I especially love her little logs. These are so beautifully rustic!
ReplyDeleteDid you know? Most cats have no eyelashes. Did ya?
Hmmm...something you don't know...women typically have the recessive gene of the index finger being longer than the ring finger. Men typically have the dominant gene of the ring finger being longer than the index finger. (it's easier to tell looking at the palm side of your hand) I always loved that part of biology in school. I know...now you are going to look at your hubby's hands!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the useless trivia!
Michelle
I really should be packing (we are moving) but reading your blog is way more fun! These (gorgeous) beads make me think of spring! Something about the earthy colors and textures. Thanks for sharing her link!
ReplyDeleteI can totally see these beads made into a Kumihimo bracelet, maybe using the red heart for a Valentine's Day theme.
ReplyDeletePat F.
I do love these beads. I'm in a new challenge involving handmade embellished envelopes and these might fit in perfect with what I want to do. However,
ReplyDeleteDid you know, that the woodpecker sustains a g-force of about 1200 as it pecks against a tree, while a g-force of only 80-100 is strong enough to give us a concussion? Yet he doesn't even get a headache? Hmmm. :)
I love the organic feel of these beads so neat-o!
ReplyDeleteHere is a random fact for you- Every vehicle produced by General Motors in the United States includes about $1,500 in health-care costs - typically more than the value of steel contained in the vehicle.
The bead caps remind me of the tops of acorns...I love the shape of them...Or, you could "hide" a bead between 2 of the caps and put them on a bracelet with just enough of a gap that, as it moves, you get a peek at something (which should be SUPER sparkly to catch people's attention)...
ReplyDeleteThe large ring is very cool and earthy - definitely could be used on a seed bead piece with other earthy greens and blues - I already have ideas for that one :o)
Well, it is -40 where I am, in Fairbanks, Alaska. The coldest it's gotten since I lived here was in 1989, when it was -75. The only reason they closed the schools was because the bus drivers refused to drive!
ReplyDeleteThese beads would look great on a journal! Seems like everything I see, each technique I learn ends up on a journal. I gave up fighting it! I got nothin' else except keep making amazing jewelry!
ReplyDeleteI'm off to check out her other beads. It will help me postpone the inevitable-taking down my Christmas decorations. Why is it so much fun to put the up and such a chore to put them away?
ReplyDeleteI think I've earned these gorgeous beads. One and a half hours of hard slog in the gym this morning, especially the five minute run on the treadmill. Wonders will never cease! How's your exercise plan working out? Happy New Year Lorelei!:)
ReplyDeleteAndy Garcia was born with a partially formed parasitic twin on his shoulder. I bet you didn't know that!
ReplyDeleteAlso, cute beads :D
Hey Lorelei, one of those beads looks like a Cheerio and the others look like food to me too. Must be time to start the diet again. Phooey. I think I ate 4 pounds of M&M's last week just to get them out of the house. Can't throw them away so now everything looks like food.
ReplyDeleteOh, aren't those beads cool!
ReplyDeleteAnd here's a random, and disturbing fact for your Tuesday: "When snakes are born with two heads, they fight each other for food."
Ew!
Those beads are cool! I figure no one else would be saying it.
ReplyDeletePick me! What you don't know is that it is an unseasonably warm day in Salmon Arm ,British Columbia, Canada today. We are expecting rain and there is no snow!It looks like Spring.

Did you know that Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise? It takes 243 Earth days to make a complete rotation which is actually longer than it's year of 224.7 Earth days.
ReplyDeleteThe beads are still cool. Thanks
Well, I hate to say it but they ARE cool! :) They remind me of something ancient that could have been dug out of the ground. I sometimes wish I was more into ceramics but definitely don't have room for that. Barely enough room for all my glass stuff as it is! Whomever wins the beads is a lucky duck :)
ReplyDeleteOoooo - would love to win!
ReplyDeleteBest info of the day for you Lorelei. To keep teenagers from hanging out and drinking in a wooded area in Scotland, the local government sprayed manure on the property! Ingenious idea!
ReplyDeleteSue-Lin
I donate every bit of my profit to local & foreign missions, primarily orphans & homeless kids. Anything I win directly helps these kids! And the beads are so cool but you already know that!
ReplyDeletecereal/cheerios that look like they fit into the bowl beads and afterall it is good for your heart. What better thing than to win these beads and make your heart happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! This artist is new to me. I'm going to go check out her shop!
ReplyDeleteThe world's largest orchid is the Grammatophyllum speciosum. It can grow to the length of 8 feet and grows in clusters that can weigh more than one ton!
Lorelei, thanks for even offering these...they are so unique and organic. Of course, I want them, but you told us who made them! So even if I don't win, I win. Love your new studio post too...inspired me to clean up!
ReplyDeleteWell of course the beads are gorgeous, now what else to say? :) The first thing that comes to mind when I look at them is I'd love to make a necklace with a simple chain holding the 3 bead caps with a Picasso czech glass round under each in a single row of vertical dangles (each on a single headpin). That probably makes no sense to anyone but me lol, but I promise it looks great in my head.
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to a new artist!
I love the primitive quality--I just ordered some beads made from wooly mammoth fossilized bone (I know!) not knowing at all what I would do with them. I think these beads might be friends. In any case, I want them! Also, in a completely random statement, its been 80 degrees here all week. I love san diego!
ReplyDeleteThis comment isn't related to these beads! Or an "random fact" although I have quite a few stored up for such occations;)
ReplyDeleteThis is regarding your blank wall in the new studio room. You mentioned that the magnetic board and the tool pegboard had to go because of the plaster walls. Why not take a few old doors or even some plywood, attach the pegboard to that and make a free standing or leaning display. You could even hinge a few doors together and use them in your shows for a backdrop.
Just a thought. Have a great day.
Pick me!
ReplyDeleteDid you know it took every ounce of willpower to not rip open all the 12 days of xmas gifts all at once. :)
those are lovely beads! I would love to win :)
ReplyDeleteReally unique and antique looking, your beads would be nice in combination with my lampworked beads. The remind me of beads from the germanic peoples who lived long time ago.
ReplyDeleteBest regards from Austria,
Ingrid
I would combine them with a mix of crocheted sewing threads ! Nothing you have seen before .. for sure !
ReplyDeleteDid you know that the world's largest pearl is 31,893.5 carats and weighs 14 lbs. It is often called the Pearl of Allah because it looks like a turbaned head. Just a little trivia for you. I won't say how awesome those beads are and how I would love to win them!!
ReplyDeleteHere's an interesting comment that will probably fall into the TMI category. I have a duplicated collecting system. Don't know what that is? Neither did I when the doctor told me! Now it's just a funny joke between my husband and I.
ReplyDeleteMe: "My stomach hurts."
C: "That's probably just your extra ureter."
LOL.
My husband and I met in a comedy club. He was at the table next to my best friend and I and when I left the table to go to the ladies room, he, much to the surprise of my friend, moved his chair next to mine so that the arms where touching. When I came back to the table I sat down as if nothing ever happened. We laughed together through the show that night and have been together now for 22 years !!!! That night was also his birthday. I love that story and I like to tease him and say i'm the best birthday present he ever got. LOL swopemelmel@aol.com
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. I will be heading to the hospital when you pick your winner. Just like everyone else I would like to win. Have a wonderful afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI've just begun to dabble in making my own jewelry, and these sweet pieces would be so fun to create with!
ReplyDeleteRed-hot heart-shaped lava erupting through hoops of volcanic rock! Cheerios! Anyone for a shell game? Shiny, shiny! I'll jump through wonky hoops for these beads!
ReplyDeleteHere's your different post inspired by beads on a string brought to you by Michelle who just had a salad for lunch and wants something else...
Thanks, Lorelei!
Ok, yes the beads are cool and I'd love to win. But I bet you didn't know that eagles can swim! I learned that just recently when we went on a photo tour of a local animal park. Looks like you're getting your fill of odd and unsual facts today :)
ReplyDeleteΙ would love to have them!!!
ReplyDeletegood luck people!
Just the useless fact thing is fun - but her beads are awesome.
ReplyDeleteHere goes:
The Mayan Indians filed their front teeth into points and drilled holes in thems so they could adorn them with precious gemstones and they also filled the cavaties in their teeth with piece of jade. (that's probably not how most of us picture those pretty beads above being used, eh?)
Oh boy! Aren't these beads really cool? How I lust after them! I can feel them in my hands ;)
ReplyDeleteI do not have an interesting factoid to tell you. So, thanks for the chance to win the beads (yeah, ok, they're cool)
ReplyDeleteI have only won one thing in my life, I don't expect this to be #2, so, although I really love these pieces, I think I'm gonna check out her other things ans maybe just purchase some!! Thanks for the chance to win, hope whomever gets them makes something amazing!
ReplyDeletetoo funny...I don't know that it's interesting, but the little round ones at first look remind me of acorn tops that you find in the forest.Very earthy, and fun :)
ReplyDeleteHmm something you don't know? That my younger daughter (4) and my son (21 months) are running around in their underwear and diaper (respectively) and singing (Camp Rock 2 songs) and dancing and pretending they are swimming.
ReplyDeleteHi. Those are pretty beads! Would be fun to make something with them, maybe combined with some sari silk.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2012 brings you much happiness, creativity & success! :)
Bahhaaa! The comments are cracking me up. Must admit I read Heidi's twice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing link on beads. You always have the most amazing finds. Holy mackerel, imagine things are flying out of Chelle's shop by now. Super delicious. Reminds me of walks on the beach and woods.
Lisa M.
Hello. My name is Mari, and I'm a beadaholic.
ReplyDeleteOak trees produced no acorns this year. Apparently this happens every so often. The squirrels appreciate not being yelled at for crashing on the seeds you put out for the birds, at least not for this winter!
ReplyDeleteHi Lorelei! I thought you might like some fun owl facts :)
ReplyDeleteA group of owls is called a parliament, wisdom or study.
Owls have been found in the fossil record up to 58 million years ago. The largest recorded owl fossil, Orinmegalonyx oteroi, stood about three feet tall.
The smallest owl species are the Northern Pygmy Owl, which is between 16 and 18 centimeters, and the Elf Owl, which is 13 to 30 centimeters tall.
Pretty cool, huh?
a dreamy bracelet! beads appear to be African, the element of earth!
ReplyDeleteRandom factoid just learned this morning. People actually do better on tests when they're sick with a cold!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading through everyone's comments! Some crazy facts that I'll likely not remember, but found interesting just the same. I too met my husband at a comedy club! Full story is interesting to friends, but not sure here.
ReplyDeleteRandom fact - Did you know monarch butterflies are the only insect to migrate up to 2,500 miles to get to warm weather and hibernate?
The song that most people tend to serenade me with upon meeting me?
ReplyDelete♫Lola
la la la la Lola
la la la la Looooooolaaaaaa
(nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah)♫
(Copa Cabanna and Whatever Lola Wants are in 2nd and 3rd respectively)
You may not know that here in Spain we don't get our presents on Christmas but on the 6th of January. That is when the three wise men come to bring presents to everyone as they did to baby Jesus. So this would be an awesome present to get!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have checked her Etsy shop and she does make pretty amazing stuff. Thanks for letting us know her shop.
Well, your jewelry is the best! Anthropology should seriously get the hint and hire you to be their lead designer!
ReplyDeleteRandom factoid: Elephants are the only mammals that can't jump. Who knew? :-)
ReplyDeleteOk well the beads ARE cool but you want random, let's see...
ReplyDeleteFossilized poop is called coprolite and I have an actual bead made from it courtesy of Gary Wilson. Yes, he sells poop beads. Awesome.
Cool fact that I just learned about ceramic beadmaking: there are 3 main stages: Greenware, bisqued and glazed. And they all remind me of food! :-)
ReplyDeleteI want that heart but can't think of anything interesting to say right now
ReplyDeleteMy birthday was three days ago. Is that random enough?
ReplyDeleteI find your blog so informative today. A few things I learned today:

ReplyDeleteOK something you may not know is that I work for a beer/liquor distributing company and get to sample new beers and liquors as they come in to the warehouse. Yep, we get to drink on the job.
ReplyDeleteI love those beads and would be so happy to win them!
Awesome beads....duh. Hmmm....something you don't know......4 body sites require New York doctors to request per- authorization for any care that falls outside of the Treatment guidelines for Workers' Compensation claims...Back, Neck, Shoulders and Knees.
ReplyDeleteHow' s that one?
I wonder if one fires ceramic beads at a higher temp than what it takes to make glass beads.
ReplyDeleteI love different textures in fabrics and beads and which I have made a number of bracelets I have yet to use bead caps.
These are indeed unique beads. Happy New Year to you and yours from Western Canada,
Anna
Thirteen is a lucky number in our family. My daughter was born on Dec 13th (due around Thanksgiving). Two years ago, her daughter was due at the end of September and was born on Oct. 13th (which I predicted)! Friday the 13th can occur 3 times a year. Factoid of no importance. Love those beads!
ReplyDeleteI have purchased Michelle's work in the past. She does beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteI've always been too scared to use beads made of clay as I am always too scared they will break...I KNOW... seriously missing out right!! Sooo if I win I promise to make something beautiful and will let you know how fragile they are not!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Karyn
Very organic, ancient looking, visually exciting
ReplyDelete... let's see, something random, after a summer of drought, bachelor's buttons and crimson clover are blooming in January in Texas... CRAZY!! Would love these!
hmm...something you don't know...I discovered today when filling out the fafsa form for one of my college-age daughters that once you start working on your master's degree you are considered "independent" even if you are a full-time student with no job and technically are still supported by your parents.
ReplyDeleteLove the beads!
Wow! Some very interesting facts... who knew!
ReplyDeleteFabulous giveaway... thanks!!
Today Nebraska hit a record high of 73 degrees. In January! Global warming, anyone?
ReplyDeleteI am the most unlucky person alive so I don't know why i'm
ReplyDeleteEven bothering entering your contest I won't win anyhow. See I tod you
I just love the natural organic look of these. The one reminds me of a cheerio (which makes me happy), but I adore that little red enameled heart!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the super cute red heart...I'm already dreaming of Valentine's day (even tho I don't have a sweetheart. yet!) It reminds me of a little candy conversation heart. Hope I'm the LUCKY random winner! -carolyn c.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you asked for random comments, I've had a blast reading them! I think the beads look like seed pods.
ReplyDeleteRandom: My favorite snack as a teen was dill pickles and pepsi. My headache solution is a Goody powder, a Dr. Pepper, and a chocolate bar. Works every time! :)
I was born with a partially formed parasitic twin on my forehead. It's still there--and these beads would make a great choker for the little fella!
ReplyDeleteJust checked out Michelle's shop :)
ReplyDeleteYep gota say it those bead caps are are way to COOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
Sorry it's to late to think of something entertaining :(
After lusting for her beads for a while, I'm contemplating joining a pottery or raku workshop. Can't see something crafty without wondering how to do it on my own. But never find the time to actually do it.
ReplyDeleteSo all there is left is buying ;)
Something I learned this morning, ceramic drinking horns were shaped so that you had to drink the entire drink before putting it down. I'm not so sure though, I think they just recreated the shape of the cow horn. So, that's my entry! :D
ReplyDeleteNeed the beads. I have 4 dogs, 2 fish and a husband addicted to the History Channel. My New Year's resolutions were: 1. Eat More Chocolate, 2. Cuss More and 3. Drink More. I think I can accomplish all of those and not fail.
ReplyDeleteOK,Lorelei Now I really AM impressed. You actually READ all the comments left during a giveaway? WOW!!
ReplyDeleteEven if I win these beads, I am going to her Etsy shop for more-I love how organic yet hip these are...
My you have such long fingers... How tall are you my dear? Must tower over little 5'1" people like myself :) Nice Beads! Have a great Day - Hope to see you soon!
ReplyDeleteYou may already know this, but since I do cat rescue, I thought I'd educate! :0) The average life expectancy for the domestic cat is 10 to 15 years. This means that a female, intact, cat can have approximately 45 litters in her lifetime (although stray/feral cats don't usually live as long as domestic indoor cats). With the average litter being 4, that one cat can produce 180 offspring who, in turn, will produce their own offspring!!! Wowza!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a pottery junkie and love follwing your blog. It is the Maya not Mayan.
ReplyDeleteLove these beads! Can see a couple of different designs in my minds eye already!!!! Happy New Year Lorelei,to you and your family.x Anne.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading everyone's remarks I can't think of anything to top them! But I will state, your work is amazing! The necklace I received is beautiful! I was looking through my jewelry books last night and found lots of your work in my wire style 2 book. Looking forward to your new book!
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about this artists' beads is the way she groups them together...bead caps, charms, connectors...what a great way to purchase a set or better yet WIN a set!!
Thanks for offering the giveaway!
PUKWUDJE (native american): a small human-like being, about 18 inches or so tall, usually seen in northern woodland areas, often after an all-night drumming. Kinda like the native american version of a leprechaun or fairy. About 15 years ago, I saw one up on the Bruce Peninsula on the Georgian Bay (up in Canada eh).
ReplyDeleteBetcha didn't know THAT.
Those beads are not "cool", they are AWESOME.
