  1. Pick me! Sorry ony my phone and may have posted twice. You may not know that my daughter and I both have the same crooked pinky toe. Yup, her Dr laughed at it when she was born.

  2. Let me think... What I like about all these art beads and artists is their range of materials. These are earthenware, it looks like. I have thrown pots in earthenware and terra cotta. I have not tried porcelain, but I would love to try. Also, the range of glazes is wonderful.

    Thanks for a giveaway, Lori!

  3. Well, I'm one of the speed readers - I skim through things. I saw this on Facebook and then went to my blogs. Didn't see the comment about saying something than how cool the beads are - I had already made my comment. I did go to etsy to check out her other beads and it appears that she lives in OH same as me - I love it when I find someone that lives in the same state that I do and I just want to go visit and hang out and see how they do all these great things - I would love to come hang out in your studio an watch you work but you are so far away. I love gemstone beads but I am finding that I am becoming partial to the ceramic beads and I think it is the organic look that they have. Sorry for the first comment - I still hope I win.

  4. oh, I've loved her beads for a long time! I especially love her little logs. These are so beautifully rustic!

Did you know? Most cats have no eyelashes. Did ya?

  5. Hmmm...something you don't know...women typically have the recessive gene of the index finger being longer than the ring finger. Men typically have the dominant gene of the ring finger being longer than the index finger. (it's easier to tell looking at the palm side of your hand) I always loved that part of biology in school. I know...now you are going to look at your hubby's hands!

    Enjoy the useless trivia!

I can totally see these beads made into a Kumihimo bracelet, maybe using the red heart for a Valentine's Day theme.

  8. I do love these beads. I'm in a new challenge involving handmade embellished envelopes and these might fit in perfect with what I want to do. However,

Did you know, that the woodpecker sustains a g-force of about 1200 as it pecks against a tree, while a g-force of only 80-100 is strong enough to give us a concussion? Yet he doesn't even get a headache? Hmmm. :)

I love the organic feel of these beads so neat-o!

Here is a random fact for you- Every vehicle produced by General Motors in the United States includes about $1,500 in health-care costs - typically more than the value of steel contained in the vehicle.

  10. The bead caps remind me of the tops of acorns...I love the shape of them...Or, you could "hide" a bead between 2 of the caps and put them on a bracelet with just enough of a gap that, as it moves, you get a peek at something (which should be SUPER sparkly to catch people's attention)...

The large ring is very cool and earthy - definitely could be used on a seed bead piece with other earthy greens and blues - I already have ideas for that one :o)

  11. Well, it is -40 where I am, in Fairbanks, Alaska. The coldest it's gotten since I lived here was in 1989, when it was -75. The only reason they closed the schools was because the bus drivers refused to drive!

  12. These beads would look great on a journal! Seems like everything I see, each technique I learn ends up on a journal. I gave up fighting it! I got nothin' else except keep making amazing jewelry!

  13. I'm off to check out her other beads. It will help me postpone the inevitable-taking down my Christmas decorations. Why is it so much fun to put the up and such a chore to put them away?

I think I've earned these gorgeous beads. One and a half hours of hard slog in the gym this morning, especially the five minute run on the treadmill. Wonders will never cease! How's your exercise plan working out? Happy New Year Lorelei!:)

  15. Andy Garcia was born with a partially formed parasitic twin on his shoulder. I bet you didn't know that!

    Also, cute beads :D

  16. Hey Lorelei, one of those beads looks like a Cheerio and the others look like food to me too. Must be time to start the diet again. Phooey. I think I ate 4 pounds of M&M's last week just to get them out of the house. Can't throw them away so now everything looks like food.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, aren't those beads cool!

And here's a random, and disturbing fact for your Tuesday: "When snakes are born with two heads, they fight each other for food."

    Ew!

  18. Those beads are cool! I figure no one else would be saying it.

  20. Did you know that Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise? It takes 243 Earth days to make a complete rotation which is actually longer than it's year of 224.7 Earth days.

The beads are still cool. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, I hate to say it but they ARE cool! :) They remind me of something ancient that could have been dug out of the ground. I sometimes wish I was more into ceramics but definitely don't have room for that. Barely enough room for all my glass stuff as it is! Whomever wins the beads is a lucky duck :)

The world's largest orchid is the Grammatophyllum speciosum. It can grow to the length of 8 feet and grows in clusters that can weigh more than one ton!

  27. Lorelei, thanks for even offering these...they are so unique and organic. Of course, I want them, but you told us who made them! So even if I don't win, I win. Love your new studio post too...inspired me to clean up!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well of course the beads are gorgeous, now what else to say? :) The first thing that comes to mind when I look at them is I'd love to make a necklace with a simple chain holding the 3 bead caps with a Picasso czech glass round under each in a single row of vertical dangles (each on a single headpin). That probably makes no sense to anyone but me lol, but I promise it looks great in my head.

Thanks for introducing me to a new artist!

  29. I love the primitive quality--I just ordered some beads made from wooly mammoth fossilized bone (I know!) not knowing at all what I would do with them. I think these beads might be friends. In any case, I want them! Also, in a completely random statement, its been 80 degrees here all week. I love san diego!

    ReplyDelete
  30. This comment isn't related to these beads! Or an "random fact" although I have quite a few stored up for such occations;)

This is regarding your blank wall in the new studio room. You mentioned that the magnetic board and the tool pegboard had to go because of the plaster walls. Why not take a few old doors or even some plywood, attach the pegboard to that and make a free standing or leaning display. You could even hinge a few doors together and use them in your shows for a backdrop.

Just a thought. Have a great day.

  36. Here's an interesting comment that will probably fall into the TMI category. I have a duplicated collecting system. Don't know what that is? Neither did I when the doctor told me! Now it's just a funny joke between my husband and I.

    Me: "My stomach hurts."
C: "That's probably just your extra ureter."

My husband and I met in a comedy club. He was at the table next to my best friend and I and when I left the table to go to the ladies room, he, much to the surprise of my friend, moved his chair next to mine so that the arms where touching. When I came back to the table I sat down as if nothing ever happened. We laughed together through the show that night and have been together now for 22 years !!!! That night was also his birthday. I love that story and I like to tease him and say i'm the best birthday present he ever got. LOL swopemelmel@aol.com

  43. Just the useless fact thing is fun - but her beads are awesome.

    Here goes:

The Mayan Indians filed their front teeth into points and drilled holes in thems so they could adorn them with precious gemstones and they also filled the cavaties in their teeth with piece of jade. (that's probably not how most of us picture those pretty beads above being used, eh?)

  53. Hi Lorelei! I thought you might like some fun owl facts :)

A group of owls is called a parliament, wisdom or study.

Owls have been found in the fossil record up to 58 million years ago. The largest recorded owl fossil, Orinmegalonyx oteroi, stood about three feet tall.

The smallest owl species are the Northern Pygmy Owl, which is between 16 and 18 centimeters, and the Elf Owl, which is 13 to 30 centimeters tall.

    Pretty cool, huh?

  88. You may already know this, but since I do cat rescue, I thought I'd educate! :0) The average life expectancy for the domestic cat is 10 to 15 years. This means that a female, intact, cat can have approximately 45 litters in her lifetime (although stray/feral cats don't usually live as long as domestic indoor cats). With the average litter being 4, that one cat can produce 180 offspring who, in turn, will produce their own offspring!!! Wowza!!!

  92. PUKWUDJE (native american): a small human-like being, about 18 inches or so tall, usually seen in northern woodland areas, often after an all-night drumming. Kinda like the native american version of a leprechaun or fairy. About 15 years ago, I saw one up on the Bruce Peninsula on the Georgian Bay (up in Canada eh).

    Betcha didn't know THAT.

Those beads are not "cool", they are AWESOME.
